The Wiz
I heard Sal follow up this morning about Brees saying it was serious according to schefter I believe. Ben's was a non contact injury so could be bad as well. They made a comparison to a pitcher blowing out his arm. DJB
Ben probably hurt his UCL I think . Although Allen hurt his because of contact typically baseball pitchers blow it out and need Tommy John surgery.

Baseball pitches put much more stress on their arms than QB's. The arm whips much more throwing a baseball.

mannc
Wow. This could be the year that the early 2000s era QBs who have dominated for so long finally exit, stage right. Amazing how quickly a team’s fortunes can change. The Giants were smart to draft their new guy while Eli is still upright. The Saints and Stillers are in a for long, lost season. atlbillsfan1975
I never want to see any player injured. Brees is a class act. I hope he gets to end his career on his terms.
GunnerBill
My Steelers supporting friend said that after an interception on his second pass Mason Rudolph really settled in and got the offense moving. I have that game downloaded to watch on my way home this evening but I can absolutely imagine why Big Ben does not want to undergo surgery. The Steelers really liked Rudolph a lot before the 2018 draft, have brought him along slowly but loves his training camp and pre-season. If he comes in and plays well then for the first time they might start asking the question. I think Brees is on safer ground. There is no potential "QB of the future" waiting in the wings in New Orleans. We know by now what Teddy Bridgewater is and Taysom Hill is not a Quarterback. That said Drew Brees is 40. Maybe this injury is the end regardless of whether there is a replacement lined up.

Not at the table Karlos
Bridgewater better step it up. I spent a ton on kamara and 6 pts isn’t gonna cut it.
H2o
Baltimore looks to be the head of the AFC North right now. Pittsburgh wasn't realistically a threat for a Wild Card spot imo. Sucks for Ben, but I don't see this helping us much. It still may be the end of an era in Pittsburgh though if Ben needs TJ surgery. Brees is on the downside of a story book career. If he is forced to miss significant time then the Saints are toast. Not sure why they played Bridgewater yesterday instead of Hill, but I'm not Sean Payton. The talk of Josh for MVP is a bit premature and isn't on the docket right now. Just win games baby, just win games.
Gray Beard
Pittsburgh is not very good these days. If they somehow get into the playoffs, they won’t go far. Take this as an opportunity to search for your QB of the future. Move on from Ben. Can probably make similar statement about NO, but they have Bridgewater who could be good enough to build an offense around.

The warning signs were all present last season, but they tried to squeeze another year out of Big Ben with a sub-par supporting cast. I would be shocked if this wasn't his last season. apuszczalowski
Losing either is a big blow to their team but both teams are not completely screwed. Pittsburgh has a potential starter in Rudolph who they recently drafted and could be Ben's replacement while the Saints have Bridgewater who they believe could be a replacement for Brees. Even in Indy, Luck retired but they already had someone who was looked at as a potential starter behind him. None of those guys look like or are projected to be Elite top tier guys, but they could end up all as decent starters that can lead good teams. Sherlock Holmes
Both should just retire today....Brady should as well after seeing what is going on around him. Stinks, I think Rudolph is going to be a good one:(

Sherman
Pittsburgh also lost their starting running back, Connor. I think this is the beginning of the end for Pittsburgh’s competitive run.
DCofNC
The Steelers might be alright with Rudolph, he was a solid prospect coming out, he did pretty well yesterday. The Saints better throw Hill in if its going to be long without Breese. I get that Teddy is the more accomplished player, but my gawd he was awful yesterday. If Hill is what Payton thinks he is, its time to see it, if not, they are staring a top 10 pick in the face if Breese is out for the year. 11 minutes ago, CommonCents said: Has he hit a QB yet? An early interception was actually a perfectly thrown ball that the receiver let go through his hands to the defender. He doesn't have Josh Allen's big arm (or Ben Rothlisberger's) but he checks all the other boxes. There's no reason to think he can't do as well as Daniel Jones, who also lacks a big arm. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001055644/article/steelers-players-impressed-with-qb-rudolph-in-debut Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Big Ben has surgery and a long recovery, the Steelers decided to cut bait with Big Ben and move forward with Rudolph long term.
