  2. We have a large flowering shrub, a weigela. Over the years I have noticed that the hummingbirds like it. In June this year when it was in full flower I saw a few hummingbirds come to it. I put out a hummingbird feeder near it, and it got some use. Now the flowers are gone, and I haven’t seen a hummingbird in a few days.

  11. https://abcnews.go.com/US/alabama-students-throwing-covid-parties-infected-officials/story?id=71552514 Students in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 have been attending parties in the city and surrounding area as part of a disturbing contest to see who can catch the virus first, a city council member told ABC News on Wednesday. Tuscaloosa City Councilor Sonya McKinstry said students have been organizing "COVID parties" as a game to intentionally infect each other with the contagion that has killed more than 127,000 people in the United States. She said she recently learned of the behavior and informed the city council of the parties occurring in the city. She said the organizers of the parties are purposely inviting guests who have COVID-19. "They put money in a pot and they try to get COVID. Whoever gets COVID first gets the pot. It makes no sense," McKinstry said. "They're intentionally doing it."

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle Underneath the western skies On my cayuse, let me wander over yonder Till I see the mountains rise I want to ride to the ridge where the West commences And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences Don't fence me in
  19. Hmmm... a variation on a theme The Metamorphosis (German: Die Verwandlung) is a novella written by Franz Kafkawhich was first published in 1915. One of Kafka's best-known works, The Metamorphosis tells the story of salesman Gregor Samsa who wakes one morning to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect (German ungeheures Ungeziefer, literally "monstrous vermin"), subsequently struggling to adjust to this new condition. The novella has been widely discussed among literary critics, with differing interpretations being offered. (from Wikipedia)
