The ransom is set: two first round picks for Khalil Mack !!!!!

The closer it gets to game day. And the more Mack stresses that he will not play and will sit out the entire year only to leave in FA in the offseason, the raiders will take what they can get for him. Asking everyone for 2 first rounds now will gauge if anyone is stupid enough to offer that for him.

Amd no. At that price I would not.

Where is the ransom set? Is this the cool kids thread....for the other thread? About the exact same thing?

They can want what they want.....they need a buyer.

You could compare Buffalo's 1st round selection for the next 10 years and still not reach the caliber player Mack has turned out to be IMO.

The way I look at it a high 1st round draft choice would be needed to even come close, higher then Buffalo normally drafts. So to me the deal is costing Buffalo one 1st rounder and Mack cancels out the other.

I say yes, get er done Mr. Beane man

Thank God you aren't in charge of anything having to do with player personnel decisions for this team.  I swear, there should be a basic intelligence test required before fans can even REGISTER to join this site.

Exactly, look at what the Sabres paid out to get Skinner for example..or what the Sabres got in return for Kane.Different sport but educated business decisions are pretty much the same. I remember when Ditka sold his entire draft to get Ricky Williams....Times  have changed.

Explain the error of my ways then

What Mack is worth is debatable without the insults, no?

The draft choices are one part of the cost. The $20 mil+ in cap space is what turns me off. Get cheap young guys, build a team. We are NOT one player away. We could stand to take a top 5-10 pick and trade down for 3-5 starters....if we’re lucky.

This is uncalled for.

And frankly obnoxious.

You gotta forgive him.

He would rather have big Mike Williams, Leodis, Whiffner, and Ej Manuel than Khalil Mack ???

Yeah, that was not the best way to address things, IMO. Sorry to see that. I disagree with you, but try to do it politely.

Bring the price down Raidus or Mack will be brushing up on his golf game this fall. A 1st & 3rd is as high as I go.

If Beane did this, it would be the first red flag of his tenure.  Everything he's said and done until now has been the opposite of going out and paying both significant draft capital and long-term contract/money.  Based on this, I cannot see it happening IMHO.

Sorry for not knowing, but what is the source of the two firsts?

That very well be their initial asking price, but there's no chance they'll end up getting that.  I would think 2019 1st and mid-round 2020 is the most you're going to get for a hold-out player.  Oakland simply doesn't have enough leverage to pull off two firsts.

If you want elite talent, you are going to have to pay Elite prices for it.

The Raiders don't have to trade him, and it doesn't matter to them that you have to give him a huge contract

He is one of the top defensive players in the league and they aren't going to give him away for nothing right now just because he will sit out.

And people always seem to get confuse when they see it, this is just their asking price, why would a teams asking price not be higher then most would be willing to pay?

You are always going to ask for more then what you will most likely be willing to accept later on.

They ask for 2 1sts not, then someone negotiates and gets him for a 1st & a 2nd, or 1st & 2-3rds, etc. Or a team comes along and says they can give up 2 1sts because they want him.

I believe that came from the Raiders themselves, or a "source close to the Raiders"

Exactly.  No team is going to offer that, just like no team was going to offer the eagles a first and a third for Foles.

No one’s giving up a first and a second for him, either.  They’re dreaming,

If he sits out the year, he won't be a FA next year.  I think he has to report by Week 10, but they can fine him $800k+ per game missed. I'm guessing he blinks before they do.

As long as he can be a DE, LB, WR and OL, then yes.  It's a steal!!

He will be as versatile as he will be wealthy, so YES!

He will also cut your grass and do your taxes. How do you pass that up?
