C.Biscuit97
Kiper was the conductor of the Josh Allen train. I’m sure he gave Carolina an A when they drafted Jimmy Clausen, his 4th favorite player in that draft. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.awfulannouncing.com/nfl/mel-kiper-said-hed-retire-2018-jimmy-clausen-wasnt-successful-nfl-qb-well.html Kiper is terrible. 6 minutes ago, JinxedBill1 said: Thanks but I'm not giving ESPN clicks. Boatdrinks
I'd rather have my team get an A from Kiper than an F. Regardless of your opinion on Kiper ( for years I thought the Bills FO would field a much better team if they just made the Kiper pick ) it must be stressed that these are preliminary draft grades. No one knows how these players will turn out. So the criteria are limited. Did the team address their needs? Did they get value for the player chosen in relation to where they were ranked ? Or did they reach ? So whether Allen was your personal favorite or not ( or Kipers) isn't relevant . These QBs were ranked fairly close together. So the Bills probably still get an A if they pick Rosen instead of Allen. They addressed their greatest need and didn't mortgage their future to do it. Seanbillsfan2206
If mel kiper was that bad at his job, he would have been fired years ago. He’s a talent evaluator. It’s literally impossible to get mock drafts 100% right. He knows more than all of us combined when it comes to evaluating talent. Yes he’s had some bad judgment (ahem jimmy clausen) but sometimes talent doesn’t follow you to the NFL

Ennjay
Day-after grades are such a waste of ink. I guess we can thank the internet for only wasting electrons. All of these immediate post-draft grades are LOL ridiculous. The same "experts" who just issued pre-draft grades---without doing the same evaluations/tests/interviews as the teams themselves---compare what actually happened to what those "experts" said they would have done and then "grade" the teams on how much the teams agreed with them. Since Mel loves Allen and Edmunds and I guess likes Phillips, the Bills get an A for agreement. If the next "expert" hates Allen, Johnson, Neal and McCloud they get an F for agreement. Yada yada yada. Edited April 29, 2018 by Ennjay typo

Yada yada yada. They are ridiculous if you think they are grading based on which players they like. That's not what's happening. There may be slight variations in ranking of prospects among Kiper, McShay , Ourlads etc but they're pretty close. Why wouldn't the Bills get an A for drafting Edmunds? He was a top ten player on virtually every known ranking. QBs were close too, so the Bills get an A whether they chose Rosen or Allen. The grading is based on the relation to the overall board and if the team filled holes. If you think it's a prediction of which players turn out best ( and it isn't ) , yes that would be silly. MrEpsYtown
The grades we are getting post draft are completely dependent on people's opinions on Josh Allen, which is dumb. Kiper gives us an A because he likes Josh, other analyst are giving us bad grades because they hate Josh. Reminds me of my old high school English teacher who would give you an A if you agreed with her, and would give you a C at best if you presented a differing opinion. The fact is there were 15-2O really great players in this draft...and we got two of them. We also got a top fifty player at ninety six. To me that's pretty good. We filled the two biggest issues this franchise has.

BADOLBILZ
These guys gotta' hand out grades to create the feeling of perspective.............but when you draft a QB the scale can massively distort. It's more like winning the lottery when you hit on a QB versus $50 and a pat on the back for drafting a few good players that will have a limited impact and flame out in 5-7 years. Go back to 2004.........who's left from that first round? 3 HOF QB's with no intent on retiring. Even go back to the Matt Ryan/Joe Flacco draft and they are about all that's left. Grades don't begin to tell the story because all positions are not created equal. If Allen or Rosen become great and the Broncos continue to not have an elite QB for a decade then Elway will look like an idiot for passing.....even if Chubb pans out. If Allen is great, this draft was a grand slam. If he's quite good it's a homerun. If he is average it's a poor draft. If he sucks it's a disaster. The other guys, as far as this draft grade goes, hardly even matter. And I like a few of them a lot,
dgrochester55
Kiper is not the most likeable guy but I do not ever remember him giving Buffalo an A. At least this is another step towards Buffalo slowly gaining national respect again. This more than other years, is way too early to grade. The success on the draft will live or die on the success of Allen. I personally see Allen as boom or bust, either being a perennial pro bowler or a total disappointment, no in between(Bradford, Bortles etc). I like what they did on the rest of the draft. Edmunds and Phillips could add an immediate spark to the defensive front 7. The later picks added competition to positions that needed it and if one of the last five picks can be this years Milano, I consider that a success.
