  1. African Americans aren't allowed to do something as innocuous as kneeling for the flag, and they obviously aren't allowed to protest. What might they be allowed to do that wouldn't inconvenience us too much?
  2. I can't help but to think our no-huddle / K-gun offense played a big part in our defense not being all that it could have been. Had Buddy Ryan been our DC, Marchibroda probably would've gotten a punch in the mouth.
  3. Anti-losing, which means anti-Whaley, anti-Nix, anti-Levy (as GM), and especially anti-Brandon. However, I don't think I needed to be anti-Whaley to disagree with your post. I'm not blasting him for the pick. He took a shot in the 5th round, but it didn't work out due to the very concerns (weight & character) that caused Karlos to fall to that spot in the draft. IMO, it's not worthy of criticism or praise. Imagine this was a "Should we give Kelvin Benjamin another shot?" thread and I wrote "Was a damn good trade I must say by Beane. Benjamin has no one to blame but himself." Would you agree with that? If not, should I just chalk it up to you being an anti-Beane guy?
  4. Whaley drafted a guy with weight & character concerns who proceeded to eat & smoke his way out of the league in 1 year. I don't fault Whaley for taking a shot on a boom or bust prospect in the 5th, but I don't see how it could be considered a good pick beyond 2015.
  5. My bad. I mistakenly thought you were letting personal feelings about McGahee cloud your memory of his career.
  6. I'd say he was a better first-round pick than Mike Williams, Erik Flowers, JP Losman, John McCargo, Donte Whitner, Leodis McKelvin, CJ Spiller, EJ Manuel, and Sammy Watkins. I know we're supposed to hate McGahee because he ripped on Applebee's, but let's be fair: he won Comeback Player of the Year in '04 & was a borderline stud for the 3 years we got out of him. You can say we didn't need him because we had Travis Henry, but it's possible that OBD had misgivings about giving a new contract to a guy who had 11 kids with 10 women & would later serve time for running a cocaine ring.
  7. Madden has been including all-time players/teams for decades. I doubt their ratings on Dick Butkus and Deacon Jones have changed very much over time. Also, I vote Henry Jones for Bills' starting SS.
  8. He took it in GB. Beane was Assistant GM when the Panthers drafted Funchess; McDermott was DC. Generally speaking, former Panthers who have crossed paths with those guys don't seem to be opposed to coming to Buffalo. Also, I don't think being a GB WR not named Davante Adams is such a desirable job. Probably not. He looked like he was on the rise in year 3, but has been injured & inconsistent in the 2 years since. As a big bodied WR, it's debatable that he'd be any better than Duke. I'm not saying I wanted him, but it wouldn't have been a terrible signing for the price.
  9. $2.5M plus incentives. I wouldn't have faulted McBeane for signing him at that price.
  10. Nice! I think many were expecting this last year, but better late than never.
  11. Bring back Jonathan Williams! I didn't think it deserved its own thread, but we do have an opening.
  12. I don't believe signing EJ makes us any more set at CB than we were before, but we're set up nicely for BPA.
  13. Lions are supposedly interested in Carlos Hyde. Wonder how much $ he's looking for; he seems like he'd fit well in our backfield.
  14. With all the garbage time the Jets are likely to have, I smell late round fantasy gold in Perriman.
  15. Is this the big payday Perriman was going to get?
  16. Exactly. Just like last year, OBD has done a good job of filling their holes in FA, setting themselves up for BPA. By the way, it still feels weird to say "Just like last year, OBD..." and have it be something good. Nevertheless, here's hoping that BPA aligns as perfectly with our needs as last year. As for "why RB?": 1) we're a run-first team 2) Singletary missed a quarter of last season to injury 3) Frank Gore just vacated 180 touches out of the backfield

  18. Agreed. We're strong enough at WR that it wouldn't make much sense to trade up, barring unforeseen circumstances like Jeudy or Lamb falling out of the 1st. Some of our favorite WR prospects will fall to the later rounds; it happens every spring.
  19. Mitch Goldich of SI had this to say about Newton: So if he’s not walking into an open starting job, here’s my total darkhorse candidate that should consider him: The Buffalo Bills. The Bills are a playoff team. They have a great defense. They came into this offseason with a ton of cap room, and still have the 10th-most available. They just brought in a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver. They also may smell a particularly ripe time to go all-in chasing their first AFC East title since 1995, with the Dolphins still building up, the Jets being eternally unreliable and the Patriots finally turning the page on the Tom Brady era. I know Josh Allen has a lot of supporters insisting he got better throughout last season, and that he has a chance to take another step forward this year. I also know how the nation felt during his most recent game, watching him struggle his way through the second half and overtime of a 16-point blown lead against the Texans. The Bills might come to the conclusion that Josh Allen is good enough. They could also easily be one year away from the situation Chicago found itself in with Mitchell Trubisky this offseason—suddenly very aware their quarterback simply isn’t the guy, in danger of letting the window close on an otherwise good team. Buffalo would be better served taking a chance on an undervalued player one year early instead of overpaying for a solution one year too late. If Newton is healthy, he could be an immediate upgrade over Allen and make Buffalo a real contender in the AFC. If he’s not healthy, Buffalo would still have the quarterback that led the team to a wild-card berth last year. Bills head coach Sean McDermott was the defensive coordinator in Carolina for six years, including Cam’s MVP/Super Bowl campaign. Of course, that’s not the same as Philip Rivers walking into his old offensive coordinator Frank Reich’s system in Indy. But they are at least familiar with each other. McDermott is uniquely qualified to know whether or not Newton would be a good fit for that team, outside the X’s and O’s of the scheme. If Newton is going to be available for below-market value, somebody should pounce. Why not Buffalo? https://www.si.com/nfl/2020/03/22/offseason-story-lines-tom-brady-cam-newton-coronavirus
  20. I can't see Taylor falling to us, but I'd be all for it. He's a threat to take it to the house every time & never missed a game. I'm not concerned about the heavy usage. If you're re-signing your RB after his rookie contract runs out, you're probably doing it wrong.
  21. Having given this a great deal of thought, I agree with others that Hyde seems like the perfect complement to Singletary. Spotrac lists his market value as $3M/year. If that's even close to accurate, I'd sign him in a heartbeat. This would not stop me from drafting another RB if there was good value to be had.
  22. I'm convinced that it's the primary source of the virus' rapid spread.
