Here are some FA ILB's.    Yeah, I would have liked Williamson also, and not happy a division rival got him!

Bowman would be great, likely out of price range.

D. Johnson would be interesting--not sure how much is left in the tank, but likely cut due to salary by KC.

Hodges and Bostic seem like guys that could play better in a different situation.

whitehead allready signed with the raiders.....i liked him too

I think this has more to do with positions that McBeane value highly and which positions they want to have superstars in...  Such as in Carolina they had a high 1st round QB in Newton and then the QB in the middle of their defense Luke Kueckly who was also a high 1st rounder...  They see those two positions as vital to the teams success and Brown is not a good enough athlete to satisfy McBeane.  They will be taking QB in the top 5 and look to upgrade MLB in the draft this year or next.

On the other side, they have shown that they do not spend big money on CBs.  They let Norman walk in Carolina, Gilmore walk last year, and appear to be fine with letting Gaines leave.

He was a 4-year starter. Not sure how much more you could reasonably expect from a 3rd round pick.

You've seen him play right? How much could he reasonably expect for a contract? Him and McCarron must have the same agent.

I thought E.J. Gaines would have been signed by another team before Preston Brown.

One guy hasn't missed playing time and is among the leaders in tackles since entering the league. The other has missed a bunch of playing time and may have thrived in a specific scheme.

I think Gaines thought he would cash in due to the being a CB after a good showing last year. Problem is he has injury concerns and not everyone plays zone.

I would love for the Bills to resign Gaines, draft two LBers, and devote rest of draft and FA on offense

Good plan.

Man do I want Roquan Smith on this team.   Not sure they'd be able to swing it if they trade up for QB, but he'd be a monster in this D...

Marquis Flowers of the Pats...converted safety, very athletic and versatile and has some length. He played very well against us this year. Was all over the field.

There is no way we should replace our (slower) league leading tackler with a special teams/rotational player that converted from safety two yrs ago... I loved watching him play at Arizona (I grew up in Tucson) but no thanks to that idea. I'm not sure which direction to go to replace Preston Brown but not this way.

Well, hopefully after we draft our QB, the next position we target is Linebacker. I wonder when our 2nd draft pick will actually be when its all said and done. Beane says he only has money for really cheap free agents, and draft picks.

Dude was all over the field against us. I was impressed. I haven't seen nearly as much of him as you, but his skill set looks like one that would succeed in our system.

Zach Brown had character issues, mainly from SF. that led to his FA situation last year. Preston is the opposite.

Not sure that's true. Don't recall any character issues, not to mention he was never in SF.

Preston Brown is the perfect LB to bring in off the bench in a rotation.. It would have been nice to have him in a rotation, but as a starter he is below average.

I personally think the Bills want a star at the position. I wonder how long it will take to get a guy like that.

I kind of wanted him to re-sign with us. Not saying we should of over paid for him, but he was so reliable and durable. Oh well, onto the next

I think the Bills thought they might keep him as a backup, for backup pay.  Preston wanted more.

I’m hoping Buffalo gets the QB @ 12, then Vander Esch at 22, 2nd round get a DT (Phillips) and WR (Miller) 3rd Weakside LB (Scales/Leonard/Jefferson) and OT/OG (O’Neill or BPA)
