Hypothetical, but maybe they have talked to the Browns and know who the Browns are going to take at #1, which if not Barkley virtually ensures he goes #2 to the Giants, making #3 enough for the Bills to get their guy. If you don't want a QB and you have a top pick you want to get a bunch of draft picks and right now the Bills (and Cleveland )are in the best position to some team picks. Wouldn't make sense to leak that you are interested in jumping to 3 when someone else who might want Rosen's services could just jump ahead to #2. These guys are on another level. It's one thing to say (as the Eagles did) you're fine with one of two QBs. It's another thing entirely to say you're fine with one of THREE possible QBs. Thats likely it, you keep pushing as high as you can get as it buys you more flexibility as the draft approaches. Say we can go up to #3, doesnt mean we don't stop talking to the Giants to move up to #2 but at the very least you have hedged in the security at that spot then you would giving other teams an opportunity to move up. Consider this scenario: Browns #1: Barkley Giants #2: Rosen or Darnold Bills (from Colts) #3: Mayfield (assuming they want him this is safe) Browns #4: Allen Browns ask the Bills for assurances during the Tyrod talks... sides switch a little intel in exchange for higher pick for Tyrod.
