boyst
I am surprised this is not a conversation already being had because it is an important decision. We have seen next to nothing on links and possibilities. Does anyone have any ideas? I would love to see Mitch cut and come back.

ndirish1978
It's likely Kyle Allen and he's not anything to get excited about. Edited March 14, 2023 by ndirish1978

uticaclub
We shouldn't pay anything more than the vet min. It's hard to imagine this team doing anything at all without Allen. Get another lineman or WR and a JAG backup.

DapperCam
Backup QB in the middle-late rounds of the draft. A high floor, low ceiling type guy. You basically hope he can be a game manager and not turn the ball over if Allen goes down. 2
Yantha
I'm looking at a few developmental late round QBs in this draft: Hendon Hooker, Tennessee (if he slips to later rounds) Clayton Tune, Houston Max Duggan, TCU
billieve420
Someone cheap if Josh is out for any significant period of time we are not going anywhere anyway and might as well tank. No more than 2 yr deal for Vet QB if they decide to go FA route. Edited March 14, 2023 by billieve420
Big Turk
Does it matter? If Allen goes down we are f**ked. Would almost be better to have no backup QB to get a high draft pick and get Allen back the next year. 3 1

78thealltimegreat
WGR was speculating just keep Matt Barkley and then take a late round flyer on a QB…might be a spot for Stetson Bennett like in the 6th Edited March 14, 2023 by 78thealltimegreat

Kirby Jackson
I saw a “trade for Davis Mills” post and that sounded like a good idea. He makes basically nothing. Send one of those 5ths over. Mills mafia!!! 1

SCBills
I'm definitely in Barkley as the PS vet presence and then draft a QB in the mid-late rounds to back up Allen. Someone like Duggan or Bennett would be fine by me. As long as we give Allen the OL and weapons we should, a rookie should be able to game manage us to a fighting chance if Allen had to miss a few games. I’d like to see someone that has a possibility of keeping the Bills competitive if Allen goes down for a game or two.

Zerovoltz
.....Drew Lock is similar size and plays a game similar to Josh Allen. Has a strong arm. Poor mans JA? (I would like KC to pick him up as our backup, he's from Kansas City.) The Packers, once the Rodgers thing is sorted out, may be in on him. They loved him coming out of college. I don't think they really believe in Jordan Love as much as they are just tired of Rodgers and ready to move on.

Yantha
78thealltimegreat has me all thinking about Doug Flutie again. Haha.... Maybe Stetson Bennett is the guy in the 5th... He's short but I just watched his hilights, and boy does he have that "spark". Might be interesting off the bench. The only difference now is that Allen is the "Rob Johnson" they all hoped he would be! Edited March 14, 2023 by Yantha

NewEra
Trubisky makes a lot of sense- as long as whoever the backup QB is, I hope they can make plays with their legs. Whomever we sign will be a below average to poor passer based on being a backup without a job. We should make sure they can do something decent to move the chains. Brissett is the perfect guy imo….but I think he’d get a lot more money elsewhere 1

Wondering where he's going in so called "consensus mocks". I'll check it out. EDIT: Looks to be a 5th to 6th rounder in consensus mocks, but we all know QB's are usually drafted higher than their perceived value. I think to get him, it would have to be in the 5th. No_Matter_What
I said it before - anyone who doesn't get more than $2M total. We already overpaid Matakevich (again), let's stop wasting cap space. So wait who's left in week or so, don't give him more than $2M and more than $200k guaranteed and possibly draft someone in R6 or so.

What's the point of winning games with a backup QB if there is no shot at doing anything once we get in the playoffs or even if we get to the playoffs. Having an unnaturally high pick due to QB injury is why Cincy was able to get Chase.
