Paper tickets?

diversification

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I'm a new season ticket holder this year and from what I hear, the default choices are either (1) plastic card + electronic or (2) electronic only.  When I ran a search for "paper tickets" I did see a few mentions in threads from 2021, so I'm thinking there must still be a way to get those.  Can anyone tell me if that's correct, and if so how I would go about getting them? I'm still undecided if I'd do it, but I'd still like to know.

Thanks!

EDIT: Holy cow, the way some of you just went off into left field with this post was more spastic than a squirrel with ADHD lol.  I was asking because I've seen the collections some people have kept and framed for their home bars and such and thought that might be fun.  For those worried about my technical abilities, swing by my house and I'll use my rooted phone to initiate a home automation routine that flashes my lights at you to let you know "I'm good, thanks."  😂

I don't think they're available at all.  Too easy to forge.  What frustrates me even more is that you can't even print anything off to bring to the game should you purchase from a re-seller:  you must use a QR code from your phone.  Which is a pain for anyone from Canada who doesn't want to pay a fortune for roaming data while over the border for a game.

You could contact your Rep:  every Season Ticket holder has an Account Service Coordinator.

I open the app with the QR code before I leave home. That way, I'm not depending on a signal or burning data minutes while standing in line.

I can't recall seeing anyone with the old card-stock ticket-shaped tickets in recent years.

Paper printouts......like boarding passes printed off your home printer........I have seen.

Otherwise it's cards and E.

The cards are great and a good enough collectible, IMO.

Electronic only I wouldn't recommend..........seen people have issues with phones going into games.

Card is the way to go and you can use your card for playoff games as well.

Hmmm, when I need to prove legally that I have traveled a certain route on a certain day, I use paper boarding passes for that.  (tax matters among other things)  I guess I won't be able to prove I attended a Bills game, however, if I ever care.  Oh well, not likely to come up.

Paper tickets have been removed by the entire NFL league wide. As of 2020. When a friend of mine and I upgraded seats in the clubs in 2019, our rep informed us that 2019 was the last year of paper tickets. The league wants everyone using electronic devises to enter. It cuts down on scalpers and fake tickets. It also gives the NFL better opportunities to maximize the secondary market. Also adding fees in all secondary transactions.

we even asked about older people that don’t have smart phones or weren’t capable of figuring out the process and they basically said there was no plan in place for that.

to my knowledge, you can now show up to the stadium at the will call window And request paper tickets for a $5 fee/ticket. But I think you will see them completely plain, paper tickets without any images or anything on them. Just game and seat information.

I used to collect all my stubs as well. Been a season ticket holder since 2006 and I enjoyed keeping them all. But those days are gone.

im hoping for the least year, or last few years of the stadium being open, they do something special.

I haven't seen anything about paper tickets.  I think they're history.

Next season, one of the options will be tattoing a bar code on your forehead.

Why not get fans chipped like dogs?

The NFL could then sell the data.

It also increases number of electronic devices being pick pocketed.

Oh it does not cut down scalpers just those not giving a cut to NFL.

Cell phones being pick pocketed is not the nfls problem

when was the last time you were at a Bills game? Because last year I saw significantly less scalpers roaming the lots trying to buy and sell tickets. Usually they are falling over one another. This year I can’t remember many at all.

Cell phones being pick pocketed should be NFL's problem since they are making it easier to pick pocket them with crowds.

The scalpers I am talking about are those paying a fee to team to be licensed ticket seller who sell the tickets along with tailgate or other amenities which raise price of tickets significantly.  They are very popular with away (opposing) visitors.  Several have tried to sell them to our Bills Backers group.

When I was a kid, saving my ticket stubs was a big deal.  It was a good memory for me.

Yeah, I still have a bunch.  My brother-in-law got a Super Bowl ticket brass plated so it’ll last forever.

The mobile ticket is great if you know what your doing - I’ve purchased tickets walking up to stadiums before it’s so easy to use

Yup. I have Jets tickets and they stopped the paper tickets years ago. For a while they were using the card. For the last 3 years its been mobile. I get my seasons and parking passes on my phone.

The Bills give handfulls of tickets to "Licensed ticket sellers" to sell in the parking lot?

Also, I didn't get the part about the cellphone pickpockets.  E-tickets are causing more phone theft because.....?  Everyone has a cellphone on them anyway.

Just an FYI, you can put the mobile ticket into your Wallet app (if you have an iPhone) and then mobile service is not required to open and use it at the gate.

..Seems quite unlikely, to me. A pickpocket, would have to crack the password on the phone, to access the tickets.

Plus, the idea of a roving gang of ticket paying pickpockets in the stadium....like Oliver Twist out there!!

Yes this is true........we actually HAD to do that for the playoff games in 2020 as I recall......there was no other choice.

Wallet app works fine I just used it for a last minute decision to attend an MLB game as they didn't even have a physical ticket office at that stadium........this is the way it's going.

But I much prefer the card.

Let's say you accidentally had your flashlight on all day or super cold weather drained your battery and you walked up to the gate with a dead phone?

I put my card in my wallet and it never leaves all season.

I prefer the cards.  I do not trust the performance of my phone in all weather conditions and life events.  Drop them on the asphalt and they do not bounce.  Apparently, the cards can not be used for entry to any potential home playoff games, which is both weird and disappointing.

This has to be a new rule just put in place then because I used my card to enter into the playoff game last season.

I am guessing -- but do not know for certain -- that this is probably just CYA language to make sure people don't think they automatically get playoff tickets when they buy season tickets.  I bet if you purchase playoff tickets through your ST account they are added to the card.

Thanks to those who actually responded to the question (I was like 10 comments in before I got to an actual answer lol.)  It's a shame that they have done away with the decorative paper tickets... the collections some folks have is really neat.

The card will be fine for now, but if they eliminate that, I'm going to be annoyed.  I'm plenty tech savvy, but all the tech savvy in the world can't change the physics of how phones react to heat, cold, impact, or even water.  That plus you all know how the network reacts near the stadium when people begin arriving.  If they ditch the cards, hopefully they'll be smart enough to replace them with something else that isn't battery dependent.  If not, the lines are probably going to slow way down as technology struggles occur at the point of scanning.

Anyway, thanks for the info. Go Bills.

It seems like each passing year the NFL...and life in general...gets a little less fun :(

I love the team the Bills finally have but I wish the presentation of Sports was still how it was 20-25 years ago
