Just Jack
Just words at the moment... Chiefs Fans Are Furious About The Stadium Speculation Quote Earlier this morning, Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan made headlines with a comment about potential relocation. According to a comment from Donovan, via Kevin Clark, the Chiefs are considering stadium options in Kanas. The team currently resides at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. “Chiefs prez Mark Donovan, when asked this AM about potential new stadium options, said the team has considered options in state of Kansas,” Clark said. “They like Arrowhead and legacy of Lamar Hunt’s stadium, but have been pitched by Kansas developers on a bunch of options. Something to watch.”

WotAGuy
5 minutes ago, Warcodered said: Because this is Kansas City The Missouri river is the state line. Basically, Kansas copied the Missouri Kansas City: During this time, other settlements were developing across the river on the Kansas side in Wyandotte County. Some of these small towns incorporated as Kansas City, Kansas, in 1872. By naming this town after the growing city on the Missouri side of the state line, city leaders in Kansas were able to capitalize on the success of Kansas City, Missouri. It’s also possible that the people in Wyandotte County felt that they had more right to the name “Kansas City” than the people of Missouri had. You could build the stadium in Kansas and have it be closer to downtown than Arrowhead is. Now, if they decided to build it out in Lawrence or something, that would be annoying.

So, Kansas City is one entity and the state line has no effect? That seems odd. Otherwise, they are in fact two separate cities with independent municipal and state governments. Upon reading further, it seems the two entities combine to form the “Kansas City metropolitan area”. So in that sense, they are one entity. Interesting! This could be just like the "Austin Bills", something made up by someone from some remarks person heard and wants a "LAMP". The situation is closer to the NJ Jest and Jiants then "Toronto Bills". The teams should be renamed IMO. It could be they just want to get further away from St. Louis which some think is cursed regarding football. Kansas is not a small state like Rhode Island and while Kansas City, MO is on border of Missouri it is possible new location not in area. Maybe Kansas City, KS (3rd biggest city in Kansas) wants equal billing and is willing to pitch in to new stadium cost? I am sure it has an inferiority complex to big brother city. Not really relevant to this discussion, but I once went skiing in Lake Tahoe and had one leg in Nevada and the other in Caifornia as I straddled the state line. That was at the top of the mountain. You can do the same at street level, but the Nevada leg would be inside of a casino and the California leg would be out in the street, so it might get run over by a car. Arrowhead is in outlying area (from downtown KC) bounded by interstates and it directly adjacent to the KC Royals stadium. Not certain, but they may share some parking lots. So, yes, a new stadium could be in another state and yet still be more of a "downtown" stadium than it currently is.

Kansas City MO and Kansas City KS are separated by a street called State Line. I used to live in Missouri and work in Kansas and traveled a distance of precisely two blocks to go from my apartment to my office. The big hassle was having to file two different state income tax returns every spring.

The “Toronto Bills” would make about as much sense as the Utah Jazz. Sure, that made sense in New Orleans, but Salt Lake City is one of the last places I would ever think of when jazz comes up. If the Miami Hurricanes moved to Minneapolis, or the Phoenix Suns moved to Buffalo…….
