atlbillsfan1975
Hmmmm, the plot thickens. Glad we didn’t need him in NE, but I have a feeling we will need him before the season is over. 1
Success
Honestly, if we do have a run in us for the SB, I think Star will be key. He's simply our best run stuffer when he plays, and that is our biggest liability on D when he's not in there.

LongTermBuffalonian
Here's my 2 cents: Is the coach apparently OK with whatever his personal reason? Yes? OK then - not my problem. I don't know what his problem was. Frankly - I don't NEED to know. Personal reasons be personal. Coach McDermott has earned a sufficent amount of respect from me that if he says "yeah - it's valid; take the time you need", then who the heck am I to argue? Every human being goes through times of trouble. What may seem like an "end of the world" level problem to you might be "Eh - it's Tuesday" to someone else. And vice versa... 6 5
Brand J
No one knows how this rumor started, could’ve been by Joe Blow in his basement apartment, but it has taken on life. I don’t think any of the Lotuleiles are on social media, but something this big should be relatively easy to verify. I’d imagine his teammates know the truth, but truly Star’s personal reasons are none of our business.

Well said and worth more than 2 cents. As for Star and football I hope he can play well and help the team the rest of the season. After this season and what happens then is best left until spring.

I, for one, am tired of the Star bashing here at TBD. Whatever his reason, they’re his and his coaches to wrestle through. Trust them and their discernment and judgment. 4

I thought Alpha’s mention of the rumor was helpful in getting people to stop making jokes about Star’s absence when it has been clearly reported he had personal issues happening. Someone having an issue with a player's performance is on line for what this site is. It's warrented. Leave families out of it. Especially kids and especially something that can be so damaging. I see your point, on the other hand people have also been speculating that Star is fleeing the Bills locker room due to Covid fears and is "checked out" of football. Given that all we know right now is "personal issue", such speculation seems out of place and inappropriate and yes, damaging. It's not about his on-field performance, it's speculating about his absence.

Might not have been Star, might have. Star was returning from toe injury and only played about 30% of the snaps against NE in the first game. But didn’t verify myself. Either way, just because Star plays doesn’t mean we will never give up a big run either. I mean teams make plays, but overall it’s safe to say our run D is definitely better with him than without him.
Billsatlastin2018
Bottom line for Star, with personal family tragedy confirmed or not? Can he stay on the field with regularity? Can he play well with regularity? If those two questions come up empty, he can no longer be a Buffalo Bill in 2022! NewEra
I just hope his family is ok and that he plays in all of the playoff games. He’s not great but he’s better than Ankou (who has been decent) and makes our team better than we are without him. Marginally better is better than not being marginally better.

Ethan in Cleveland
Hope he is able to play in the playoffs. There is a massive drop off from Star/Phillips to Butler/PS guy #51. They will need an extra DT if they play Colts or Browns in the playoffs.

And I disagree with you that a player’s performance can warrant disparaging personal remarks about them by posters. Rock'em Sock'em
Star was definitely not manhandled on Henry's long TD run. He did a good job sealing the edge and squeezing the defender. Henry ran away from Star on that play. IMO, that play could have most easily been stopped by Milano (wrong gap) and Hyde (bad angle). Replay starts at 1:00. EDIT: That being said, Star's 49.9 PFF rating for the season is below Harrison Phillips' 77 rating.
