Bruce Smith Puts Jerry Sullivan In His Place in 1997

Jordan Poyer apparently ran off the field saying “Where’s Jerry Sullivan at,” promoting Sullly to respond:

Turns out he was right.  Bruce was not up for Sully’s questioning and he responds with this hilarious blistering of Sully.  Just know there’s a few curse words below:

Weird flex by Sullivan that other really good players have also thought he was a hack.

And I also opine that the reason why "Sully" never gets any good material for columns is because long ago he exhausted any goodwill he had with the team and its players.  Nobody wants to speak to that tire fire of a writer.

He seems to be confusing "hard nose journalism" for being an insufferable prick.

Sully is kind of like a dinosaur but he understands that his job is to get people talking one way or another.  He’s not different than a Colin Cowherd or Skip Bayless or Stephen A. Smith.   He says stupid ***** to get people talking

He’s an award winning columnist. Hate him if you must, but the man can turn a phrase. Not sure he cares what players think of his abilities. Yeah, he was overall negative during twenty years of drought era football here - shocking.

Imo, there's a big difference between talking heads shooting hot takes at each other for ratings and what Sully seems to thrive on. Which is insulting and instigating players in the immediate aftermath of tough losses where they laid their bodies on the line.

Everybody and I mean everybody speaks ill will of Jerry Sullivan

But the dude was the lead sports columnist at the news for as long as I could remember

Because everybody read him whether you loved it or hated it

Color me unimpressed that someone was able to hang on to their columnist position at the Buffalo news... Not a lot of competition or opportunity to break into the field...

The Niagara Gazette seems to suit him better tho.

No. He hasn’t. Nobody really actually gives a ***** about what you do… because you’re an insufferable prick, Jerry.

He's a troll posing as a sports writer. Waiting to attack the Bills from under the bridge.

Like a lot of people on this board, he only speaks up and tries to get attention when the team loses.

Look at the other end of the spectrum, guys who've made names for themselves while being positive. It doesn't mean you can't be critical. It just means don't be an #######.

He's honestly proud of that, which tells you all you need to know about him as a writer.

Sully is a hell of a writer with a national reputation.

You wouldn't know that reading Bills fan comments at this forum, however.

It is hilarious how much he lives inside the heads of some Bills fans though, including, apparently, yours.

I'm on this board as a life long Bills fan.

I've detested Sullivan's work and attitude for decades. Maybe you're a fan of his. That's your prerogative.

But I hope you're not trying to say I need to post my career awards to have a valid opinion?

Had a subscription for about 20 years. I would be surprised if I read two of his articles. They were usually in the same spot so they were easy to avoid

For real!

There's been literally 1 constant I can think of since I started talking Bills online like 12 years ago and that is the fan bases opinion of Mr Sullivan being a p.o.s

Sullivan is fine. He's provocative and has a point. A dung beetle can only relate to its milieu. The Bills were a steaming pile of mediocrity for ages, and when they were dominant they repeatedly failed with a stacked deck.

Now we see a complacent gm depending on the one superstar on his team to deliver the enchilada despite of what the eye test says about the ill cut trenches.

Poyer should focus on those brilliant dinner discussions of contemporary virology with his wife, the phd of bikini.

Y'all too sensitive
