I’ve been to Cincinnati many times and it’s a good place with plenty to do. We’ve heard it said about Buffalo many times. My question is- what are the things these people like to do that you can’t in places like Buffalo or Cincinnati? Yes it’s no Miami with beaches but what other activities are missing?

nothing and beaches suck anyway.

Oooh lets go down to the shore where there is rocks, sticks and trash, its sooo exciting 😍😍

I lived in Cincinnati for a year and that simply isn't true...I don't understand exactly what these players mean when they say there is "nothing to do" when there are 15-20 places they could go to "party" on any given night. Florence, KY right across the river also has quite a few places.

It looks to be slightly taken out of context as he explains they have been careful not to go out as a team. So I think it is more with limiting what they are willing to do the options shrink. I have a buddy who lived in Cincy for 2-3 years and loved it said it was very vibrant.

I've lived in Cincinnati fora long time and I have no idea what Joe is talking about.  The nightlife is fine considering the size of the city.  Sure, it's not NY, LA or Chicago but it matches up well with similarly sized city's.

Heck, the downtown casino is pretty nice and there are a lot of music venues.  Now to be fair I'm a bit old to properly comment on the type of entertainment options appealing to the twenty something demographic. But I can't imagine it isn't on par with most NFL cities.

Guess these guys want to be molested by strippers when they walk out the door.

Only boring people get bored.

I’ve had just as much fun in Utica, NY as I’ve had in Toronto, ON. Sometimes you just gotta look a little harder.

Maybe he spent a lot of time in NOLA those two years he spent at LSU and is comparing that scene to what he has now, but other than that he’s lived in Ohio his whole life and maybe he’s just bored of it. But he lives about 40 minutes outside of downtown Cincy so that’s his own fault.

So what is fun for them?

Depends. If you have a wife/GF probably entertainment and fine dining. Single players probably like that stuff also but high end night clubs probably make the list. Places to spend a lot of money.

College Bar crawls probably not very high on the list for millionaire athletes. Even college coaches will tell you to be careful in those places.

How do spend a ton of money on nightlife ?? Gambling strippers ??

I mean expensive bottles of alcohol always does the trick. Strip club is likely a spot you'll find some athletes.

There's actually a great story from Channing Crowder. He said Buffalo was his favorite road city. Remember he played for Miami. But the it wasn't the city of Buffalo he loved. He said he would go up to the Toronto strip clubs every time he came to play Buffalo.

Nightlife to a 20 something NFL player means nightclubs on a monday or tuesday night filled with young ladies.  Not many cities have that kind of nightlife every night.

Well...as a former club DJ for 8+ years in a wide variety of places, I disagree. Any decently sized city will have the "place to be" on any given night that will be packed...not sure how that would be during COVID times, but that was definitely true before then.

What? He’s nuts. Cincy is an extremely fun city if you are downtown or in Covington, KY just across the river.  I’m headed to Jungle Jim’s next week, the best grocery store on earth. He lives in Mason, that’s why he’s bored.

When multiple people say one of the best ways to spend a night in a city is to visit a neighboring state....

Dude, it would be like wondering why people who live in Buffalo go to West Seneca. It's literally a suburb of Cinci that you get to by driving over a bridge across the river. Cincinnati's airport is in Kentucky and a lot of people work across state lines that live in Cinci. Going there is commonplace.

To be fair you're also not a 20 year old celebrity, millionaire.  I don't think Burrow is looking for a place to throw darts and have a few pitchers of import.

Every city has something to do. Do they have bars, restaurants and nightclubs , yep same as every other place.

Brother, this is so NOT true!

Spend some time in Seoul, Korea, or Paris, France, and tell me they're the same as Buffalo.  The historical, cultural, gastronomical, musical, and sexual divide is enormous.

Just domestically speaking, there's a world of difference between LA or NY and Cincinatti.  I lived in San Francisco for 6 years and never got bored.  I've lived in KC for 6 months and already feel like I'm running out of things to do.

Cinci and Buffalo are great towns in their own right.  But neither has a fraction of the activities and offerings of the best metros of the world.

This is true.  It's actually something I tell my kids.

But some cities are far, far more interesting than other cities.

If I lived in Utica, I'd spend a lot of time running, reading, and doing other things I enjoy.   But if I lived in Rome (the one in Italy, not the one down the road from you), I'd be out exploring the great restaurants, museums, historical sites, and all the other attractions.

I spent my college years in Cincinnati, and before the pandemic I’d still go back once a year for a Xavier basketball game every year and to meet up with old friends. The Over the Rhine area used to be dangerous, but it’s hopping now with all kinds of breweries and bars. They are packed with 20-somethings having a great time. Across the river there are some great options. I still like the character of Mt Adams, Hyde Park and Mt Lookout.

No, it’s not Miami, NYC or LA, but there are only a handful of those cities in the country. It’s not Green Bay, either.

Probably because they are million-dollar athletes..

They get spoiled and get used to high class places and situations...

Most major NFL cities have a lot more places and things to do than that... And a lot more than Florence Kentucky

Agree, but his peers in Miami have beaches, Instagram models galore, and the chance to hobnob with celebrities - all the perceived needs of a young urbanite. Dumb comment on Burrow's part.

The irony of it is the fact that guys like Burrow grew up in Ohio, go to college in Baton Rogue, and then say their NFL city has nothing to do. I don’t get the mentality. Cincinnati certainly isn’t NY, but that’s much different than “nothing to do”. Comparing mega cities to smaller cities are apples to oranges comparisons, but it’s not the same as nothing to do.

I’ve lived in Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, what is there to do in any of them?

Indianapolis is relatively tiny and isolated, I’ve been to Lambeau, the town is like Springville.

When people say there is nothing to do what do they want to do? If it’s just eating at restaurants you can do that anywhere.

Denver has stuff to do because it’s sunny year round, you have mountains, skiing, and the city is larger.

Are there great things to do in Jacksonville?

I guess my point is, outside of the big cities, LA, NYC, Miami, Houston, Chicago, maybe Phoenix or Philadelphia, what is there to do in many NFL cities?

Minnesota is frozen half the year worse than WNY.

I think you’re right, it’s more of a status thing than an actual statement on a city having nothing to do. These guys want the LA or Miami scene for status. Little do they know that most of the grown up world is discovering life can be awesome outside of LA, NY, and Miami, and are actually leaving those areas in droves. The coastal cities aren’t as hip as they once were, but maybe they still are in the jock world, idk.

Agree, everyone always brings up NY, LA, and Miami, but there’s 27 other NFL cities. Not everyone can be on one of five teams.
