Week 14: Steelers at Bills on SNF

I’ve been unafraid of this game all season, believing Pittsburgh is a Paper Tiger. -OK, not as good as advertised. What we did last season -blaring their ‘fight song’ during the weeklong practices- says we are a prepared team every week.

I wish the Bills would have had an opportunity to give them their first loss. Three games in eleven days for them could be tough but I expect a pissed off Steelers team coming to Buffalo after a loss. Tomlin looks and sounds angry in his post game comments after a win so I could only imagine what kind of a mood he will be in this week. This game will be tough but winnable. 10-3 would be a nice and since KC will probably beat Miami a Bills win would all but guarantee the AFCE.

Annoying that Washington beat them. Would have been nice to see the Bills hand them their first loss.

I think a lot of us wanted that, but if we can give them their second loss and have opportunity to get up to 2nd seed and have possible 2 home games that would be ideal

.

Couldn't have asked to play them at a better time with their injuries and slumping. Can't lay an egg here at home. Old Bills teams would crap the bed right about now. Exorcise those old demons once and for all here and show the nation we are for real, now and for a long time to come.

That is going to change by the time the game is played.  After the digesting of what happened last night sinks in, money is going to flow to the Bills side of the ledger.

After last night I wouldn't be surprised if its a pick em or the Bills are slight favorites by Sunday night. I would guess most money will be on the Bills this week.

I actually prefer playing this team after a loss (particularly the type they had).  I think they could def have been playing hard because of the perfect record.  Now that its slipped away I think they have another let down game.  Oakland just had  2 let down games (Greggo bailing them out of 2 losses) after that heartbreaking loss to the Chiefs.  Even though they are pros these type of let downs happen (also short week so any hangovers eat a bigger chunk of time).

Bud Dupree is a huge loss for the Steelers as well. One small complaint I have with Daboll is that he doesn't give enough respect in the game plan to elite defensive line players on the opposing team. A few times per game, you'll see a Gabe Davis or Tyler Kroft being asked to single block a Joey Bosa/JJ Watt/Myles Garrett and these guys have had a huge impact and have wrecked or nearly wrecked the game.

We've caught a break with Dupree out with that unfortunate injury and I like to see us chip or double block TJ Watt on every play. The Steelers defense is strong, but limiting Watt's impact gives us the best chance to score points. It sounds really simple, but we haven't been able to stop that level of elite edge talent over the past couple years and I hope we'll adjust.

Yeah I think its as Chris Simms would say just not thinking how the whiteboard translates to the field.  On the board its "O blocks X were good."  In reality it could end up being Davis trying to seal Bosa on a run.  Thats not gonna work.  But honestly that was an amazing game he called last night.  He had a lot of answers against a defensive coach everyone was fawning over.

I really didn't want The Football Team to beat them yesterday. Not that I wanted and expected Buffalo to be the first, but now the Steelers are going to pissed and they are going to come in with a no way we are going to lose attitude. This game is going to be a lot tougher than it may have been if Pittsburgh was  coming in at 12-0.

I am not writing off anyone the way our defense still gives up huge yardage plays.  I hate Ben R. (sorry, can't spell his name) but I think he can still throw the ball.  I do think, though, that our run defense has improved lately.

I do like this Bills team and they are easy to root for.  I just am expecting a tough game vs. the Steelers.

You could be right, but I could see that loss spiraling to more than one.  Lose a heartbreaker to an NFC East to break your chance at history.  That can be the thing that sticks in your mind longer than it should (and theyll need all that time cause we coming).

Maybe...thats kinda fan speak. I feel the Steelers have been fairly unimpressive all around and the game will be hyped. Now we actually have a mathematical shot at #2 . Sucks there is no bye, but Pitt drops another of the last 3 and we win out, viola.

Tough game? Yep...but we will be in it. Cant see this team being weak.

It's going to be a good old fashioned dog fight.  They have a tough D.  Buffalo will have the crowd though... 🙂

Also 3 games in 11 days for them. That is a lot of football over a short period of time. That has to be wearing them down somewhat. I still expect a tough game though.

Yeah no doubt a tough game.  They are still a good team; I just think after a loss might be the best time to be catching them (thats contrary to usual).

To me the difficulty with the Pittsburgh matchup is the talent and depth at the WR position.  The Steelers have so many weapons so it isn't if you take away one guy and contain the remainder.  They are very deep and will keep the Bills in Nickel where Taron 24 and Levi39 will have to be at their very best.

Hopefully our (Bills) offense can romp again while holding the Steelers here and there  to field goals, punts and causing a fortuitous turnover.

This is my current analysis.

My early observations:

-steelers win by turnover differential and big plays to WRs. When those are not on, they struggle.

-WRs have a ton of drops lately

- typical steeler good D , really get to QB...but look at the QBs they have faced.

-secondary will be banged up, key injuries on a team that is not that deep.

-oline is not typical Steeler standard, have trouble running. RBs are nothing scary.

-schedule has been weak. Best wins; Titans and Browns blowout.

-really unimpressive lately.

- Big Ben has looked like the old king who dies at the beginning of the movie. He's a dinosaur back there, but I still would not underestimate him. I think we can put him down.

-Bills can win the game, and maybe even should be favored. The Steelers cant run.
