This is a point I just do not “get” at all. Broke college kids Uber all over the place. You would think a multi-millionaire could have a personal driver on call at a limo company, if he doesn’t want to Uber. Almost all of the crimes and shootings you read about are committed by criminals with illegal guns. Oh and as a rule we don't drink and drive with open containers with our guns. Just sayin'. Hapless Bills Fan
22 minutes ago, TwistofFate said: They always trump up charges to try and get something to stick. Unlawful Carry of a Weapon An individual is prohibited from possessing a handgun while they are committing an offense (other than an offense punishable by a traffic ticket) – even if they are in a generally permissible place to lawfully carry even without a license. For example, imagine you put your handgun in your car where the handle is still visible, go to work, and after work you head to happy hour. Now imagine you get stopped and charged with DWI. Under Texas law, the officer can charge you with UCW because you were committing an offense other than a Class C traffic offense. So while you may have never intended to commit the offense of UCW, by possessing a handgun while committing an offense other than a traffic ticket, the officer can charge you with UCW. For whatever reason you seem to be making this out to be much more than it is. These look to be like trumped-up charges to land something and make it stick, most likely because states have lost tons of Revenue during quarantine. I would not be shocked in the least if his blood test results came back and he was either barely intoxicated or under the intoxication level. I wouldn't be shocked to see that unlawful carry get tossed out as well. Thanks for the gouge about unlawful carry. I wondered if it was something like that; I mean, like I said, it’s Texas. As an engineer friend driving from IL to TX for his first post-graduation job once said: “When I crossed the border into Texas, they pulled me over and searched my car for firearms. Fortunately, I had some, so they let me in”

BUFFALOTONE
well it’s good to know we have such high and mighty fans on this board. These are the same fans in large majority who have gotten wasted at a game at least once in their lives and driven home I bet. If you say not me I’m sure you were party to it at some point. And I’m just as guilty. the guy looks like he was riding his off-road vehicle maybe had a few pops.... and on a two lane road he could have been looking at his phone an swerved... causing someone to call it in, all valid btw. Bad judgment ok but doesn’t make him a villain. He may get one game tops and who cares really.

As an engineer friend driving from IL to TX for his first post-graduation job once said: “When I crossed the border into Texas, they pulled me over and searched my car for firearms. Fortunately, I had some, so they let me in” I lived in Houston for a year. Literally 24hrs living there I was pulled over by HWP just off the loop. Reason? I had PA plates and he suspected me of trafficking drugs. (he literally said it to me directly like that) He searched my vehicle for 35mins getting more and more pissed he couldn't find anything. Houston PD was on the scene at that point and they basically rolled their eyes at this guy when he told them what he was doing. HWP eventually left but not before threatening to arrest me for dwi because my pupils looked small and i was sweating. It was late October and I had just moved from PA where the temp was in the 50s-40s to the 80s. Houston PD eventually told this guy to knock it off. When HWP Left Houston PD told me he had called in a huge drug bust on me as he was pulling me over. So i know they trump up charges on people down there.

Lot of people in the US carry around a weapon. After looking at the video, he was driving a pickup and pulling his ATV. After looking at a map, Montgomery City Texas has a population of 621 and is about 60 miles from Houston. So cab service not so accessible as it first appears. Still alternatives, but they require more advance planning.

Your belief is that it should be legal to drink beer while driving as long as it is below the limit? That is just bizarre. You believe that people will limit their intake two beers while driving? How can the legal system sort that out when they can’t do it for those that choose to drive when already impaired? Sounds like you have been both reckless and lucky. Be careful because someday your luck will “prolly” run out. As for Oliver, this is a wake up call. Hopefully he takes gets it, learns a lesson, and makes better decisions in the future.
