Doesn't change the fact that he played poorly... Just now, Limeaid said: It was planned from the start to rotate tackles so they could give Cody some live coaching on sets to improve his skills. RochesterLifer
Yes, the offensive line had some moments they would like to get back. I still am very optimistic with this group. Let's keep in mind: - This was the first game (as has been mentioned) with a totally overhauled group. - The Jets D-line (as has been mentioned) is very good. - Morse missed the entire preseason. I think this is really big for the entire group. The O-line plays as a team and he is their leader. I expect them to get much better and quickly. I think we are going to like our O-line this season.
JustWinPlease
He needs to be put at guard...at 6-2 or 6-3 he's going to get killed by the defensive ends like 6-5 Leonard Williams and 6-6 Henry Anderson. He's not an NFL left tackle. EDIT: I mean right tackle. Lol. Edited September 8, 2019 by JustWinPlease
Nuncha
Young player in his first game on the road against a very good defensive front. I'll take his upside and potential over Mills any day. Dawkins got smoked at least once too. O-line got it together when it mattered most which was good to see. Considering a lot of what rookie lineman deal with is stunts, different fronts and how to adapt to the speed/movement of the NFL game, idk how you do that in game with hindsight. Let the kid play and coach him up on Monday. If you aren’t confident in his abilities to leave him in full time, he shouldn’t be left protecting the franchise QB

Happy
Ford is a rookie and still needs more time to develop into the RT they think he can be. Jets defensive line is very good, plus Greggo is a good DC. Our o-line is much better than last year. It should only get better.

Green Lightning
I think he needs to move to guard. That said that was one hell of s D line he went up against today and Greggo did some pretty good stunts and blitzes. He's going to be fine, it was his first game. Yes the Jets have a good DL and you would reasonably expect them to win some matchups, Dawkins got shoved back into the pocket, Quinnen got Morse once. Ford had a rough day, which is epxected; being a rookie doesn't absolve you from being critiqued. Nsekhe was in when the game was on the line... Im with you on the groove and rotation. But if you want to start your best five, play your best five. He isn’t going to learn on the fly watching from the sideline once every three series. ThTs what sideline time is for when the defense is on the field. Between series and on Mondays should be this kids film review. Let him play, make mistakes and experience the game. By all means he is physically where he needs to be. The mental part of the game isn’t going to happen mid-game IMO. I like the idea of Ford at guard this year. It will allow him to use his physicality and minimize the effect of his error. If they eventually want to kick him to tackle, great. Spain wasn’t all that great today and Feliciano was full of penalties. It wouldn’t hurt the OL to have Ford play G 5 minutes ago, N.Y. BigBuff423
Cannot understate the importance of chemistry on the Offensive Line and with Morse not playing a snap in Pre-Season, I think the first half will be their worst half of Offensive football all year. I think the Offense keeps getting better each week for several weeks - many new parts. Not just Ford.

Allen had time to throw more often than he didn't. They popped some runs when they had to have them too. There is room for improvement which isn't surprising considering how the preseason went. I don't think the starting group got many snaps together. There's a lot to be encouraged by. And someone tell Feliciano to chill with the unsportsmanlike penalties. Possibly cost us three points. In a world where McD says he wants the best 5 on the field, it is absolutely relevant how he plays regardless of his potential ceiling in comparison to the rest of the OL talent. If he isn’t getting the job done at RT, he should be moved to guard or sat full time of he isn’t improving our chances to win. The rotation doesn’t make sense in any scenario IMO. Estro
I think Joe B. was right in his training camp reports......he did not like Ford at T, liked him a lot better at G. He seemed to get beat with outside speed pretty regularly, just as he did throughout training camp from everything I've heard. Maybe the Bills liked him as a T when they traded up for him in the 2nd, but so far the film is showing he needs to be moved inside. I don't see how you get better at handling outside speed on an island. You either have that athleticism or you don't. He doesn't look like he has it.

It's fine to be enamored with a guy, and to be thrilled that you worked the draft in a way that you landed him, but none of that makes him auromatically capable of handling an outside speed rush. Bring him inside as a mauling guard, already.
Reed83HOF
The Bills decided to give second-round pick Cody Ford the start at right tackle, though they didn’t commit to him for the entire game. The Bills instead wanted to run a rotation of Ford and the 33-year-old Ty Nsekhe at the position. As the game went along, the rotation gave Ford two consecutive series with Nsekhe coming in for the third. It repeated as the game went along two more times. However, Nsekhe was the right tackle in the team’s first touchdown drive. He executed several key blocks to spring loose Singletary for big gains on the right side of the offense, and the Bills took notice. Instead of Ford coming back out for the next drive in the fourth quarter, the Bills kept their rookie offensive lineman on the bench. Nsekhe continued as the right tackle for a second consecutive drive, the Bills scored again and left MetLife Stadium with a victory. The questions surrounding Ford and where he fits into the offense will continue after that move late in the game. When the Bills took to the field for their most important drive it was Nsekhe, not the rookie, that they trusted to help get the job done. Already with loads of experience at guard in his football career, the Bills could consider moving him to right guard if they feel more comfortable with Nsekhe in the lineup. Either way, the offensive line, and how they arrange it, will linger as a talking point for the 2019 Bills. https://theathletic.com/1195162/2019/09/08/seven-observations-from-bills-win-over-jets-josh-allen-is-still-inconsistent-and-questioning-the-offensive-game-plan/
