Plano
This is a slap in the face to OJ. Is he a terrible person? Yes But he's a HOF running back and his # should be retired, not given to some scrub who will be cut before the regular season. 13 1 1

Freddie's Dead
As much as I despise Orenthal, giving out #32 again is just wrong. Almost as bad as giving #22 to that POS Bush. Edited May 21, 2019 by Freddie's Dead 4
Ridgewaycynic2013
This isn’t exorcising demons...this is inviting karma to ‘dope slap’ the Bills in the head. Who’s responsible?! FIRE THEM!!! FIRE EVERYONE!!! ?? * Like most families, we just don’t talk about it. His name, number, and accomplishments aren’t mentioned, nor are his crimes. But I would be interested to hear the reasoning behind why they decided to do it now after all these years, and why they are giving it to a fringe guy. Is it really plausible that he would ever be the subject of a halftime ceremony in his honor these days to retire his #? Somehow I think those plans were put on ice during the 1994 offseason. I get it--the argument is that performance on the field should never be combined with a player's off-field conduct...but in certain instances, I don't know how you can separate the two? Even those experts like Peter King who have HOF voting privileges can get tripped up by the multitude of layers involved on a case by case basis: https://awfulannouncing.com/nbc/peter-king-who-repeatedly-defended-convicted-rapist-darren-sharper-cant-in-good-conscience-give-antonio-brown-an-all-pro-vote.html It's a tough call. But clearly the Bills have decided that they won't dwell on it, and does this really change old timers' memories of OJ playing back in the day?

Chandler#81
All in all, I’m good with it. No one associated with the current FO has any stake in a murderer who played here 40 years ago. I don’t believe we’d ever retire the number, based on June 13, ‘96. I think it may be Pegula’s/McBeane saying “that part is over too!” I saw OJ play many games, wowing Rich Stadium. But by ‘78, I was ready to move on. It helped that we Drafted Joe Cribbs with the pick we got from San Fran. 1

SlimShady'sSpaceForce
Perry isn’t guaranteed to make the Bills. If Perry doesn’t make the roster, technically Simpson will still be the last player to wear No. 32 for Buffalo. But now that No. 32 is back in circulation, other players presumably will ask for it. They’ll have to consider that the uniform number will get more attention than any other they could ask for, but the legacy might not matter as much to players born in the late 1990s. After a while, it might not be shocking to see a Bills player wearing No. 32. https://sports.yahoo.com/buffalo-bills-finally-reissue-no-32-jersey-for-first-time-since-oj-simpson-wore-it-143513031.html
WotAGuy
They should have done this back when they were wearing those crappy dark blue jerseys in the early 2000s.
Ridgewaycynic2013
I recall a mother of a teammate of my son having a fit when travel uniforms were handed out for baseball, and her son received 32. Like most youth sports organizations in those days, uniform size had a direct correlation to player number.
White Linen
I don't think we owe OJ anything in terms of the team honoring his legacy. I just think the #32 should be off limits because it's just too weird of a situation. I would have kept it unofficially retired for that reason only.

blacklabel
Perry has worn it most of his career and wears it in honor of his family, or something. He was surprised to find out it was available. Maybe it's been available for a while but nobody's ever asked for it? Either way, whatever. OJ is a turd.

I think giving it to a fringe guy is intentional. "32" was unofficially retired. So the Bills are un-retiring it in baby steps, starting with a fringe guy. If Perry makes the team, it'll be really weird for old timers like me to see someone besides OJ wearing that number.
