[Name Only Title] Jerry Hughes........

Jerry Hughes had 15 pressures against the Vikings today, per NFL Next Gen Stats. That's the highest number of pressures in a game of any player in the last three seasons. Joey Bosa had the next most with 13 in Week 10 in 2017 against the Jaguars.

As a courtesy to the other board members, please use more descriptive topic titles. A single name if far too vague to post as a title and provides little insight into what specifically the post is talking about. The topic starter can edit the topic title line to make it more appropriate.

Thank you.

I’m still kind of in shock the Vikings tackle could not figure out Hughes, the books been out for years let him run by and the quarterback step up in the pocket and Hughes will run 5 yards right past him every play. For whatever reason Hughes was just too fast today and managed to not only run past their tackle but come back for the quarterback with complete ease.

It was nice to see him playing 1000% effort and not getting silly penalties. Guy is a real difference maker at times

The concept of Star in the middle, although he wasn't in on all of Hughes' nice plays, pushing the pocket so the opposing QB easily step up and avoid Hughes was predicted by a bunch of us and evidenced today. Hughes has been very good since he got here. He had a great game, sure, and he should get the credit, but he was making that speed rush the last couple years, turning the corner and just missing the QB who moved in a step of two to avoid him. The tomahawk happened when Cousins was just standing there and Jerry could get to him. He was on fire tonight though.

Great quote from Hughes here (pay, but free trial:)

“It’s a great feeling when teams have that strong right tackle [like Riley Reiff] like they had today and they’re confident in him,” Hughes said. “It’s great to actually get a one-on-one matchup and not have to worry about the back chipping you and banging up your ribs and stuff like that. It’s a lot of fun. Makes the game a lot more enjoyable.”

So there you have it.  Jerry Hughes enjoyed his game.

I thought this might be his last season with us but if he continues to play the way he is right now....we need him.  He plays intense and I love that.

He is on about a $10 mil cap hit next year but I agree they should keep him.., particularly if he can keep playing like yesterday..

He will only be 31 which is not ancient, and in the last year of his contract so I think he will be looking to impress next year for his last deal..

Also the level of QB, last week Rivers was almost equally pressured, but he find quickly the holes in zones specially in the first half.

Um, I Don't Think So.  Our pass rush was MIA (don't mean in Miami, though that would explain a lot actually) during the first half when the Chargers hung 28 on us.

During the second half when the front 7 showed up, he found holes to the tune of what, 3 points?
