SlimShady'sSpaceForce
sign him in a way you can extend or cut after this season. Whatever you guarantee make it come off of the 2019 books if you cut ties due to another injury or him not performing. More Sammy Watkins $ talk. Yup, he got Paid, but has he produced at the lever of his paycheck? (and yeah, I can lay blame on the QB passing the ball in 21016, but not 2017). 1 hour ago, keepthefaith said: How on earth did Sammy get $16 million a year? stupidity if you ask me Edited April 16, 2018 by ShadyBillsFan

SoCal Deek
These sorts of discussions/negotiations would make me turn to drinking if I was an NFL GM. Benjamin did close to nothing as a Buffalo Bill last year, and then got seriously injured when the team needed him most. This doesn't make him a bad person, but I would love to see a player who comes in and says "give me another chance to prove myself, and then I'll be back asking to get paid". {::'KayCeeS::}
Why would pay him now with his history of knee injuries? If he can play this upcoming full season and put up 1000+, then maybe you entertain it. Nothing worse than long-term saddling yourself to a player who can't stay on the field. Gotta wait and see on this one.

Billsfansinceday1
I would like to see how he performs before considering a big time contract. I liked what I saw last year but the injury clouded the picture a bit. Benjamin certainly showed ability and willingness to play through the pain but it hindered his success...as did the QB throwing to him.

GunnerBill
He is basically playing for his NFL future this season. If Benjamin has a big year he will get a #1 WR contract here or elsewhere. If he doesn't he will be cast as no more than a #2 possession guy for the remainder of his time in the league and be paid accordingly. If I am the Bills I am letting it play out and taking a decision on whether to pay him in January and February next year.

Doc Brown
We can always franchise tag him given we'll have more cap space in 2019. Give me two years to prove you're worth the money. Edited April 17, 2018 by Doc Brown

If we're playing the what if game, you could possibly save money by not signing him as well. What if you sign him, he very much under performs or injures again, and you have to cut/trade. End up with a huge dead cap hit and continues the situation we are in this season, with all those crap contracts. I don't really think either side is very interested in signing a longer term contract at this point. The bills would want some insurances in case of injury or lack of performance, KB would want to be guaranteed what he thinks he is worth. For those reasons it is highly unlikely any contract extension gets done at this point.

Definitely. Your knee, in single leg stance (so just during walking while on one leg) takes 4x your body weight LBS per square inch of pressure (psi). That's not running or jumping, just standing on one leg. So 225 is 900lbs of pressure 210 is 840lbs and so on Knee health is directly related to body weight in many ways. Best thing for him is to cut 15+lbs

You guarantee a bit extra, give a little less per year, he gets some coin in his pocket up front.... its a risk but that’s how you get a discount if you want one.
