Stevie on the Wall?

Recommended Posts

Stevie Johnson played five solid years for the Buffalo Bills and is the only receiver in the history of the franchise to have back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons. Andre, Moulds, Evans, Lofton could never do it and they all had better QBs.

I think SJ13 should be seriously considered for the Wall of Fame.

Thoughts?

While I thought he was good at times, and managed 3 consecutive 1000 yard seasons, I think he was slightly above average as a player, at best. he proved that by bombing out after leaving the Bills.

1. He never came through in the clutch to win games

2. He was not a true leader

3. He wasn't a true pro bowl caliber player at any point in his career.

If it's now "The wall of average players" then yes... add him.

Nope. 3 straight 1k seasons is certainly noteworthy, but he was only here 5 seasons total. A longer career here putting up those kinds of numbers would've probably done it though.

A 1000 yard season for a WR in the modern day NFL with the rules that favor the offense in 16 game seasons is hardly any measure of excellence. Wall worthy? That's a resounding NO!

What, 63 receiving yards per game for a 6-10 team doesn't scream 'all time great' to you?

The op is obviously being facetious. But sure, let's start another thread where we can bash a late round pick who beat the odds and did nothing but praise the city and fans while he was here and continued to do so after he left. Despite all the mouth breathers that wanted his head on a spike for dropping a catch that would have gotten us to a lofty 3-8.

How this guy gets everyone so riled up about being anti-clutch yet that incompetent clown Fitzpatrick pretty much gets a pass despite being way worse is interesting to say the least.

The only player who has joined the team since the Music City Miracle who I would support going up on the Wall is Fred Jackson. Some current Bills like Sammy may yet prove worthy, but right now, only Fred.

There should be a minimum requirement of at least 1 playoff game played as a Bill to be considered for the Wall. Sorry Stevie and sorry Fred.

You can't put Fred in the same boat as Stevie. In spite of no playoff appearances, Fred stands for everything you want to represent your franchise and Buffalo - a leader both on and off the field, phenomenal athlete who did everything ever asked, a true underdog that rose from depths of nothingness to become an elite back. I am not saying he should definitively be on the wall of fame, but man he's got my vote.

AND cost us Marcell Dareus! Bills probably would have drafted Aldon Smith or Jay Clocker instead.

No offense, but that's silly. Football is the ultimate team game. Should Kyle Williams be penalties because he played with dog crap?

And I love Stevie but his career wasn't long enough here. Only recent Bills who should be considered are Kyle Williams and potentially Dareus.

can obvious troll thread be shut down? Not to mention there is another stevie topic on the first page already.

I prefer we keep the troll thread going and shut down the other one.

agreed, lets put T.O. on the wall too

Don't forget Peerless Price. He had more yards his first 4 years in Buffalo than Stevie did in his first 5.
