CURTIS SAMUEL A BILL

This gives them a little more flexibility to go BPA in the 1st.

Like others have said, I hope they still go WR in the 1st.  But if they don't have a 1st round grade on a guy in that spot, they can go defense, and maybe even trade up in the 2nd for someone they like there.

If they don't have a 1st round grade on a WR as deep as the talent pool is this year, they all need to be fired.

i was never that impressed with him. mid to bottom tier number two. but he does seem to be more consistent & reliable than davis

But he's not going to be the #2. He'll have #3 or #4 level production.

Diggs

#28

Samuel

Shakir

We need to draft Diggs replacement at # 28

I agree. Signing Samuel makes me think they'll only take one wr in the draft, which I'm ok with if they get a top prospect. No round 2 or 3 guys

Definitely not a disappointment. We need all the help we can get. Very good signing.

We'll get that Big Body X in the Draft now.

Id like to know where this X receiver is going to play that’s a first rounder. Got Diggs and Samuel making good money on the outside with Shakir and Kincaid in the slot. Unless you’re playing Samuel in the slot and Shakir isn’t playing.

No way we could go with a 5 foot 11 outside WR in the Buffalo cold.

I just want someone to piece it together for me since we absolutely have to have one on the field.

I actually am glad they added a weapon. I fully expect them to take a WR early but wouldn’t surprise me if that’s in round 2 now. I’d say DT is looking likely and there is a possibility a Newton, Murphy or Fiske(with a trade down)

Everyone else is expendable

Edit - totally forgot about hollins 😬

And Kincaid, who is realistically going to be the #2 target.

Good news! He's certainly a gamer, just wish we weren't so enamored with small WR's. With Diggs, Shakir and Samuel, at least half our WR room will be 6ft or under. No complaints with the signing just hoping for more size moving forward.

Is he?   The money does not say so.  In 7 years he has 22 TD's.  Davis has 27 in 4 years and has been a great playoff performer.  Does this guy block?   He just seems different to me, not a huge upgrade.  Davis dropped the ball more than we like, sure but are you telling me this guy has no warts?

There it is! We have our baseline WR2. Now draft the best WR available in the 1st round and we are in business.

Exactly baseline WR2/complimentary piece to the WR room.

I mentioned earlier today in the Armstead thread, that Beane is likely targeting Samuel/MVS, then going DL in RD1.  Wr in RD2 (trade up to high 40s/#50, to get ahead of Steelers).

Will see if draft plays out like that.  But hoping we can get our starting FS before draft, and a backup DT.

This is extremely defeatist of me, but I am concerned they are not going to learn their lesson about WR and the first round WR may not be coming now.

We still have Shorter who is a taller guy.

Yeah the issue is Size Speed WRs don’t hit the market without issues. You need to draft those.

Hell yeah! This was one of the few players I actually named as people I wanted!

I think he'll be very successful here if he can stay healthy.

2022 - 64 rec / 656 yards / 4 TDs

2023 - 62 rec / 613 yards / 4 TDs

Obviously not the numbers Gabe Davis put up, but also - he was playing in Washington.

Isn't Jefferson and Chace 6'0 or 6'1"  we aren't talking about monsters here.

I'm thinking this too.  The more I think about it - we have that capital to trade up in round 2, and now it feels like we can really beef up the D-line in round 1 & still get a good receiver w/ the 2nd pick, given how deep this class is.

Curtis Samuel is more of a Slot guy. He's going to get a lot of usage all over the field. But for as much as you were joking, you weren't wrong that he isn't a full time Starter on the outside.

There's a lot of different looks we're going to give to have him on the field a lot. I think we're going to see a lot more of Kincaid with his hand on the ground. Diggs, Rookie, Samuel in the Slot with Kincaid at TE. 4 WR sets with Diggs, Rookie, Samuel, and Shakir. Etc. And some scenarios you'll have Samuel split out Wide.

But the idea that Samuel creates a scenario where Round 1 WR is out and the Outside Spot is now completely covered isn't accurate.

the big fast receivers that can jump high and catch make top dollar in FA. no way we can afford . getting a tall guy doesnt mean ***** if he doesnt have the other three qualities.

were going to need to find a stud in the draft.

Possibly need a safety as well depending on rest of free agency

That’s why we draft some more! Just like DB’s, you can never have enough because they are always dinged!

Or, is that just us? It sure feels that way sometimes, but it should even out over time. Our time is yet to come!

What's the lesson?

I still kind of hope we go WR in the 1st, but now it won't ruin me if they go w/ defense - which we also need, and probably more at this point. There will be very good receivers still available in round 2.
