And our primary runner is second in the league in fumbles and second in drops...

Id almost rather see Fournette and Johnson in this game.

Hopefully Cook proves me wrong.

Dropping passes, fumbles and open field stop/go moves in traffic … not trying to see any of that in a weather game.

HUH? The unknown. Driving with Lake affect all along 90 from Erie?  maybe getting stuck or stuck without a hotel etc

With the weather emergency being declared, it's possible I-90 gets closed at some point.

If a tornado develops inside the stadium during the game, is that better for us or the Steelers?

Just reiterating how much this situation sucks. If we play the game Sunday, it's not going to be fun to watch(well, speaking for myself) when you can't see the field or tell what is going on. On the flip side, if we move the game, we lose the home field advantage and that is something the team worked hard for. I feel like the best bet would be to move it to Monday, but for some reason it seems like that is not an option and I don't get it.

but then there's this "Hochul says her team is in contact with local officials, as well as the Buffalo Bill's to ensure the safety of fans who attend the game on Sunday in Orchard Park."

This is why I'm glad I live in Niagara Falls. We might get a little bit but we never get hit as much like Erie County and the Southtowns. I don't even see snow in the forecast for Niagara Falls on Sunday

that was 2 hours ago. lol

the nfl is would have an incredibly difficult time moving this game at this point. they'd have to get that out to the teams almost now because transportation and logistics to get the team out in the next 4 hours is nearly impossible.

we have maybe 1 hour to 90 minutes before it would be deemed impossible logistically.

So many of you posters whine more than the Fins fans on Finheaven about the weather. It’s really shocking, we used to live for these games.

It’s clear many have no idea how the Steelers have been winning game recently. Guess what, this isn’t Franco Harris’ Steelers coming to town.

The Steelers have been running well but they’ve been winning with BIG PASS PLAYS. Rudolph has been hitting Pickens DEEP in every game. Guess what the wind is going to interrupt? Oh that’s right, DEEP PASSES. Mason Rudolph does not have a rocket arm.

We have a just as good (statistically better) running game, a better passing game, and a QB who can run and has an arm cannon. Josh has already demonstrated multiple times he can throw in the wind, which is why I don’t understand all the boo-hooing going on. Between Allen and Ruduolph who will have more success in the wind? Jesus. Our receivers who can’t separate are going to have a helluva easier time getting separation on a snowy surface than they do now.

I know I’m in the minority but I think the weather is at worst a wash and may even favor us because we have Josh and they don’t. We do NOT have a deep passing game anymore. That was last year. We run the ball and throw short/intermediate passes. That’s PERFECT for this type of game.

It’s the Playoffs. In Buffalo. Against Pittsburgh. In the Snow.

It does not get any better than this

I'm not sure if some know the how bad the weather conditions favor the Steelers. Let me try to make my points.

The Steelers are all run team and a good run team. They aren't easy to stop. Their schemes are complex, diverse, and hard to predict. They employ gap, zone, and power running. It's an absolute strength of theirs.

Is the Buffalo D vs the run suspect? Absolutely, I think it's safe to say they are a middling run stop D. That's probably being a little kind.

Let's talk Buffalo's run game. Cook has absolutely sucked since the cowboy game. That was a one off for sure. I believe in the last 3 games he's average the lowest yards after contact for RBs. Not to mention his ball control issues. I think we are all going to cringe and hold our breath when he gets the rock.

How effective will Allen be running? How often will he be a designed runner? Will the Steelers have a spy?

If there is serious wind the Bills pass game will be severely downgraded. Huge tactical loss for the Bills!

Joe Marino made a statement that really stick in my head. He stated  "don't let Pitt control the game script." I agree 100%. The problem is the weather is likely to control the game script for Pitt!!!

As for myself, I don't want to get into a running game match with Pitt. This is a recipe to lose.

You want to show some stats to backup these claims?  I don't see anything where PIT is a much better- if better at all- run team.

What happened to embracing our home turf- every time we get a storm it seems like so many just stack the deck against and plead for the game to be moved- it's just funny to me. We used to pray for bad weather games for teams to travel here.I have no idea what happened to people over the last 30 years but I eat so much popcorn watching all the chicken little attitudes on here. I mean I get the Steelers are a cold/bad weather area team as well but come on man

everyone assumes the Steelers are a good run team because they suck at passing, when the reality is, for the vast majority of the year, they were bad at everything on offense.

Pitt seemed to gel the last quarter of the season but it's not like we're playing against OJ Anderson and the 1990 Giants.  Bills can and should win this

Because Lake Erie doesn't freeze anymore. Back in the 90's, when the Bills were hosting playoff games and going to Super Bowls, it was different, it was snowier, but we didn't get dumped with the amounts we get dumped with these days. It's a huge nuisance, along with being unsafe. The lake no longer freezing has caused some issues.

Football is an outdoor game.  Winning a title is more than just having the best talent on the field.  It's adjusting to changing conditions & circumstances, and being able to best your opponent when it comes to gameplanning and strategy.

If the Steelers do that better in these conditions, I don't consider it "flukey."  It will have meant they adjusted better, and had the better gameplan.

I don't think they will.  I think Allen's strong arm and superior running ability give us a distinct advantage, and will carry the day.  Rudolph is one-dimensional by comparison.

I guess we should just move away then?  I just think the dramatic reaction is crazy - last year I'll agree when that ridiculously bad weather happened here- this doesn't seem the same to me at all- but hey - were all different

WGRZ Channel 2 weatherman Pat Hammer

My notes from the podcast:

Today (Friday): quiet

Tonight: sun goes down, "rain/snow combo platter", away from the lake 7 or 7:30 may snow, will warm up tonight/tomorrow and change to lake.

Tomorrow (Saturday): windy day with snow showers, maybe 1-2" but high wind of 35-40 mph winds gusting 60-65 mph widespread across area Falls through OP, w to Rochester

Tomorrow night: snow will focus and increase, "Lake Effect" process.  Band will be there, but very challenging to predict actual location of heaviest band - S. Buffalo or OP?

Sunday during tailgating: temperatures in upper teens, snow band either right overhead or just to the north, we won't know location for sure until band sets up.

Sunday during game: could be replica of Colts snow game, could not.  Chance of heavy snow during the game.  Wind will be lighter, 20-30 mph with odd 40 mph gust from Southwest.  "Wind will be a thing, but it's not going to be debilitating wind".

"Best case": Snow band sets up over Buffalo, Orchard Park gets some snow but only 1-2" during the game.

He talked to someone with the Bills this morning, and they are discussing where the players should stay Saturday night - in Buffalo, not in Cleveland.

ya know, i'm actually surprised how many people don't know it but the home team generally allows access to the opponents by Thursday at the latest. Sometimes Wednesday. The advanced people go up early to make sure they know the technology, etc. this is usually a small crew.

There is another crew that gets there either the Friday or the Saturday morning. They are making sure all systems are set up, all logistics are intact.

Saturday night when the team generally arrives there is a group that takes all equipment to the stadium to an awaiting system setup for that team. Many teams bring their own tables or advanced equipment, as well.

A few of us at work are talking about it with a guy here who was on 3 preseason rosters and 1 practice squad team. he was laughing at the idea that the game would be moved at this point - said if anything it'd be delayed until Monday.

The frozen locusts will have the same impact as frozen iguanas.  They will pour down from the sky, lowering visibility and rendering footing challenging.  During periods of heavy locust precipitation, the trajectory of the ball during a pass or kick may be affected.

The helmet-wearing players on the field will not be impacted too much by the frozen locust fall, but coaches and players on the bench should consider protective headgear for the game.

When did they move the Browns game to Detroit?  Seems like it was relatively last minute.

I don't think this game will be moved, though.

I just don't want the weather to be the reason we lose, if we were to lose. If we win, we most likely get The Chiefs, at home, for once!! I want to see Josh beat Mahomes so we don't have to listen to that narrative that he can't get past him when it counts. I don't want the weather screwing with this setup. I can handle a loss if I feel the other team was the better team or just flat out outplays us. If it comes down to fluky stuff it will be a long off season.
