Drops on youtube tonight 4/20 7PM.

Maybe we can finally have a topic that everyone can just watch and enjoy to get ready for the season..... yea, right.

Someone will find something to be negative about, human nature I suppose.

Dumb question: Is this free to watch for everyone or do you need some kind of subscription to the channel or something? And I assume if you don't catch it live it will still be on YouTube afterwards. Thanks.

For what it is, I'm pretty happy with the off-season so far. We did what we could given the tight cap and overall I think we improved at OL, S, RB.  The open holes now are WR, LB and possible DL reinforcements.  If the Wizard can get Hop here,  we can address LB/OL in the draft and get pretty stacked for another run. Looking forward to next weekend!

Tonight we hear Beane say:

It’s not a lot of people, just a loud minority. They have nothing better in life to do other than to complain about…anything. I think it’s the snow they have to deal with.  It would make me cranky too.

Doesn’t mean he should continue to go full pregnancy - especially after his weak 2022.

He was fine last year.  His partner at LG was the issue.

A light hearted thread just can’t happen here, can it?  You like this all off season? Some of you can just be a holes over anything.

It takes about 3 months to transform a body. Not a miracle transformation, but a solid one. One of these offseasons I’d like Dion to hire a nutritionist and personal trainer and really get after tightening up. It hasn’t happened by now so it probably won’t, but even by OL standards he’s “bad body.”

Also, AJE’s chest was shockingly small for a player who once weighed 280 and then 260. How many reps did he do at the combine? Dion said he’s much bigger but I don’t see power in his shoulders/chest.

EDIT: Found that he did 17 reps on the bench which was a disappointment and a “rocky start” to his combine. I was going to say I’d be surprised if he did anything over 20 reps, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. 20 reps should be the baseline for a DE.

Epenesa was looking frail the last 2 years. Here he looks like he’s added mass but I’m guessing he will cut around camp time. I don’t think he or the Bills know what weight is best for him. Not going to help his career.

Don’t get me wrong I love Dion Dawkins I think he is one of the better left tackles in the league

And yes, boxing is an excellent sport for cardio

I’m not buying that. He does a ton of it.

I mean... he's an offensive lineman?

He doesn’t have to be in the shape of a donut

He’s a massive human being. He will always be a big person, but come on man.

Was a decent video.

Elam will have a great year this year.  Putting in the time this off-season knowing what a pro needs to do will only help this young man.  Seems to have a great attitude.

Dion isn’t in bad shape for such a big guy, but surely was winded from boxing.  I get an o-line guy spars for 5-6 seconds at a time, but they need game long stamina also.  He seemed to overreach when throwing punches, got off center of himself.  I would hope boxing would help him develop close quarter “combat” skills.

It's definitely a challenge for rookies coming into the league.  I don't think i need to hear bernard say it to know that was a major issue for him last year.

Admitting it is a problem is one of the first steps you need to make an improvement (see Alcohol Anonymous) It's why Josh is a good player as he admits his wrongs unlike Zac Wilson who was asked in a game he threw for 77 yards if he thinks he let his defense down and responds with "No".

Majority of OL have that type of body.

No. They really don’t. Most OL I see are large, muscular, built men. Dawkins looks like the fat kid in middle school that always got picked last at gym class.

I think most people would agree that Trent Williams is a top 3 LT in the NFL.  He looks similar to Dawkins.  Neither one is hiding a six pack under their jersey.  Dawkins has been a good LT and a great teammate and community member.  He is one of the last guys that should be taking heat from the fans.

i am surprised at how bad AJ and Dawkin's physiques look.

from what i've heard on podcasts and such, NFL teams are pretty hands off when it comes to player nutrition, supplements, and training.  they give a lot of leeway during the year, and are totally absent in the offseason.  I think there is some low hanging fruit there and if a team can get a handle on that they can get ahead of the game.

Trent Williams is a better athlete than Dawkins.   And their body types certainly aren't exact despite your attempt to flatter Dawkins.   Williams has the extra weight because he needs the extra weight to play the position.    Dawkins is just a really fat dude who happens to be a good athlete.    He has come into camp in horrible shape in recent seasons.   He's been a good enough athlete to hold it down to this point but I'll eat my hat if he's still a LT seven years from now like the 34 year old Williams.
