I’m the last couple years, how many players did we actually sign that we were linked to? I can’t remember 1 but maybe I’m wrong

Pre-FA none, post FA if a Buffalo reporter brings it up it’s likely, they key thing is the word interest. Interest doesn’t mean visit, so how likely something is to happen is still a stretch. If the player was coming in for a visit, then there is much more to read in on.

Poona Ford is a worse player than Ed Oliver so I'm not sure what the plan there would be. If they plan on trading Oliver and signing a lesser player to use the resulting cap space on improving the offense

I'm fine with that. If they're signing Ford as depth behind Oliver that's just more cap space devoted to rotational defensive linemen which would be a mistake IMO.

I would agree with that assessment. Ed is a better talent and better statistically, there is a big difference between Ed’s full potential and Ford’s full potential. That said, without doing tons of research (and let’s be honest, no one on this MB does) I would say Ed’s usual performance isn’t a huge jump from Ford’s usual performance.

The thing that won’t show up on any stat line is whether Ford can plug up running lanes and keep both out 225 pound LBers clean. I’m very curious to find that out, if Bills can actually sign Ford.

I’d say they are rather similar.  Neither of them play at a consistent level.  Ford being 25ish pounds heavier is the only difference

  • Draconator changed the title to Adam Thielen to the Panthers - 3 yr deal.

Patriots fans remind me so much of how we used to be in the drought, signing a Mario Williams or Terrell Owens.  And thinking that would make us a contender.

In any other division we would have been a contender a few of those years. Having Princess Brady twice a year really hurt.

Well, the Cowboys got WR Brandin Cooks for a 2023 5th and a 2024 6th.  WAKE UP BEANE!   That seemed to be a cheap price for a veteran deep threat WR.   So far, all he added was a smurf?!

Beane doesn't have the 12 million To pay Cooks' salary

I have a sneaky feeling that CB White could be a cap casualty.  Just putting that out there in the universe.....

If there's a guy who's "pay" doesn't match his "play" right now, it's White.  Not sure if I'd agree with it off the top, but if another better value corner replaced him, and it freed up over $9,700,000 in cap savings, allowing us to sign other pieces like OG Seumalo, and MLB Bobby Wagner.....  I could live with that.

Depends on how good they feel about Elam stepping up I suppose (and if a quality value acquisition was available in FA), but Beane did say that "there could be other cap casualties depending on who is added." - Source:  https://www.buffalobills.com/news/top-5-things-gm-brandon-beane-press-conference-on-the-bills-fr

You aren't going to free up $9.7M of cap by cutting Tre' White this off season.

In fact it would cost you $6.7M additional cap this off-season, or half of the free cap we currently have.
