Wow.  Heck of an honor for Milano!  Way more impressive than a Pro Bowl selection.

All Pro selection: players voted on by a national panel of 50 writers.

Pro Bowl selection: players voted on by 1/3 coaches, 1/3 players and 1/3 fans.

I'd rather have coaches, players and fans voting vs. media members. Way more impressive to me. Now, the pro bowl festivities are another topic.

Lmao took the national media 5 years to see that our best LBer isn't the top 16 pick, but the fifth rounder from Boston College.

You're entirely wrong about which matters more lol.

Josh Allen got 15 votes? Jalen Hurts made it over him? Now this is turning into a joke like the Pro Bowl.

Hurts is the shiny new toy and he was having a great season (albeit against a Charmin soft schedule) before his injury.  But yeah, it's hard to see him making it over Allen and Burrow.

This actually doesn't bother me too much. Josh had way too many interceptions, especially in the red zone.

Wyatt Teller didn’t make All Pro.
I KNEW that was a good trade for us. Yeehawww!

Cody Ford was *this* close to getting a vote per my sources in Arizona.

Josh almost led the league in picks and had a stretch of a couple games riddled with some head scratching plays.

The standard being "third in All-Pro voting" in a relatively not historically insane year is pretty good.

Congrats to Matt Milano, well deserved.

EDIT: Also, it’s a bit concerning for a potential BUF vs PHI matchup that Philly has 4/5 OL who received multiple All Pro votes, either first or second team.

Hurts was better than Allen in virtually every statistical category except total passing yards, total TDs, and yards per carry. He had a PHENOMENAL season and was deserving. 14-1 as a starter too. Allen had a great year too, of course. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HurtJa00.htm

So there are 50 voters.  They are each allowed to vote for 2 players per position (1st team and 2nd team, I assume).  1st team tally for QB, RB, TE, LT, LG, RG, RT, C all equal 50.  Makes sense.

Yet for WR there were 150 1st place votes by 50 voters.   Edge rusher produced 100 1st place votes. Interior lineman got 100 1st place votes cast. LBs received 150 1st place votes, etc.

seems weird. how do 50 people give 50 1st place votes to Jefferson and 47 1st place votes to Hill, and then still have 43 more 1st place votes to doll out at WR for example.

Glad to see our boy get some recognition!  It's especially cool in that I remember one of our players - might have been Hyde - explaining why it was especially difficult for an LB in Milano's role to get that recognition, because they're lumped into a category with a lot of pass-rusher types.

I am really glad Milano is getting the recognition he deserves.

He's perpetually underrated and underappreciated by non-Bills fans. I bet if you ask the average NFL fan, they've never even heard of him.

He's an elite player, and hugely important to the Bills' defensive success. Great (and unexpected) re-signing by Beane.

Josh Allen would swear up and down if you asked him that he doesn't care about individual accolades like the Pro Bowl and All-Pro votes.

But I promise you, he cares, and it's gonna piss him off.

What was that he said last year? "WHO THE ***** DID THEY THINK I WAS?!"

Your 1st sentence says it all. You say it took the national media too long to see this. Like they don't know what they are seeing. Then you perform a 180 and say All-Pro voting by that same media matters more?! How does that even work?

As to the bold: In your opinion? Sure. You do realize that's all this is, right?!? Opinions. Which is why I wrote "I'd rather have coaches, players and fans voting". I also stated it was" Way more impressive to me". I try not to act like my posts are 100 percent right, especially when based on opinion. See what I did there?

The players/coaches/fans popularity contest still didn't see it.  Milano wasn't even a ProBowler.

All-Pro has always mattered more in player circles and HoF voting etc. Your opinion is your opinion.

he did have a great season relatively speaking, but Josh also had more YPG passing, more yards rushing (on far fewer carries) for a much better YPC and accounted for 42/50 (84%) of the teams Offensive TDs and for 5045/6361 (79%) of their yards from scrimmage.  Hurts was responsible for 35/57 (61%) TDs and 4461/6614 (67%) of yards from scrimmage.  Those aren't similar stats.

Milano’s contract was a steal.

We don't talk about it but the Bills got sneaky lucky that he was banged up in 2020 and battling that hamstring.  Probably drove down his value a decent bit and he returned to form just after that year.

Don’t bury the lede. These long snapper tally’s might need their own thread.

Long Snappers

Andrew DePaola, Minnesota, 87 (26); Nick Moore, Baltimore, 29 (8); Luke Rhodes, Indianapolis, 25 (7); Zach Wood, New Orleans, 23 (2); Morgan Cox, Tennessee, 19 (4); Jon Weeks, Houston, 4 (1); Liam McCullough, Atlanta, 3 (1); Trent Sieg, Las Vegas, 3 (1); Josh Harris, Los Angeles Chargers, 3; Rick Lovato, Philadelphia, 2; J.J. Jansen, Carolina, 1; Patrick Scales, Chicago, 1.

Better QB rating. Far fewer turnovers (fewer INTs, fewer fumbles). Better completion pct. Better YPA. These are key categories, particularly YPA. And one of the reasons his ypc was lower is because he had so many touchdowns (touchdown runs lower the yards you would have gained if the EZ line wasn't there).

Anyway, as I mention in my thread below, Allen and Hurts were deemed by PFR to tie for the league lead in approximate value. He was entirely deserving. Allen was deserving too, but I have no issue with Hurts getting it given JA's propensity for red zone turnovers this season. It was a problem.
