The DL beyond DE.  It's McDermott and Frazier's baby.  They made the largest number of significant FA moves on the DL.  They signed a lot of FA on OL, but Rodger Saffold is the only significant (top 20 cap hit) contract, the rest are all vet minimum guys.  But Da'Quan Jones, Jordan Phillips, and Tim Settle are all top-20 cap hits for the Bills.

The question is, does that pay off?  Do we now have a DL that can both affect the QB, AND stop the run?

The Bills defensive philosophy, historically and no evidence it has changed, has been to affect the QB with a 4-man rush which also contains the run.  And last year, much of the time, it was not good enough at either.

So have they fixed that?  Because if they can get in Stafford's face, he can get flustered and less accurate and inadequacies at DB will matter less.  But if they give Kupp time to find the gaps in our zone and Stafford time to find Kupp, it will be a long evening.

We're hearing a lot of noise about the Bills OL vs Aaron Donald and the Bills WR vs Jalen Ramsey, but IMO how the Rams OL does vs the Bills DL is an under-heralded  matchup, and not just WRT sacks, but with regard to run game if the Rams do try to take the pressure off Stafford with a run game.

The Bills were vulnerable last year to teams that could run the ball well and pass "enough".  Have we fixed that?

This 100%. I think we can move the ball on anyone and should be able to tonight. As usual comes down to the defense and in my opinion the D line and if they can pressure Stafford or not. If it’s like last year, then yeah it’s going to be a long night. Vons impact both in terms of him getting sacks and allowing guys like Oliver to eat will be the key to this defense being a liability or not. Don’t give me the whole “they were the #1 defense” talk. Our D scared literally no one and that was proven anytime we played a competent QB. I had zero confidence this team could ever get a critical stop when needed did you? If you’re being honest, you didn’t. Von HAS TO CHANGE THAT

Things I Am Confident In, Things I Am Concerned With, Things I am Hopeful/Looking Forward To

Offense:

Things I am confident in:

Josh Allen to Diggs, Davis, Lil Dirty, Knox, Motor-- I am confident in ALL these guys. It's going to be a show!

Things I am concerned with:

I feel like the only concern on offense if Ken Dorsey. I have a lot of faith in him, but this will be his first real game as a play caller. If he starts to spin out, and we see Allen with his hands over his ears, with a confused look on his face, wondering what Dorsey is trying to do-- chaos could ensue. Allen certainly has a handle o this offense, but if Dorsey isn't doing his job well, it will have an impact. (It's not a huge concern to me-- but it is a concern.)

Things I am hopeful/looking forward to:

An improved run game, especially with regards to the O-line. I felt all last season that the problems we had running the ball had little to do with Singletary, and far more to do with the O-line. And from that perspective, it really looked like the Bills were committed to improving the run during the offseason. I would love to see this come to fruition.

Defense:

Things I am confident in:

The defensive line. No explanation necessary.

Things I am concerned with:

The secondary, and it isn't close. And not just the CB situation. We really don't know for sure how healed Poyer's elbow is. He does still have a brace on it. And, ya know... his elbows are a pretty big part of his game... But, the CB sitch is especially concerning to me. I hate to say it, but I really wish Levi Wallace had been wearing blue boxer shorts during that phone call with his agent. If he were still on the team, there is a fair chance that Dane Jackson wouldn't even be starting. And a rookie opposite him? With Stafford throwing to Cooper Krupp, and Robinson, and Higbee? Yes, I am concerned.

Things I am hopeful/looking forward to:

Really looking forward to seeing this defensive line perform. Many have said it (including Von Miller), but I'm looking forward to Groot having a breakout season. I hope it starts tonight! (I'll be at SoFi to see it happen!)

GO BILLS!

Pretty much the same thoughts but also a bit worried about the oline. They also have the skill, though, to shut down the Rams dline.

Taron Johnson is going to be the key to this game on defense. On 3rd and mediums when Stafford is looking to Cupp for that 5 or 6 yard out route or slant Johnson needs to be ready. The winner of that battle wins the game IMO.

Interesting analysis on Taron.

Yeah I was still lost.  Had to google.  Now I want to watch the show haha.

It’s an excellent show. Had some loose ends and lost a little steam to me in the final season. Then I learned that wasn’t the end of the story. Just the end of its TV run. Apparently, they’ll finish it via feature film.

Sal C. just reported on GR-55 that LA was JAMMED with red, white, and blue Bills merchandise last night.  They were all out bar hopping and he said it was incredible.

And he mentioned that his hotel actually got a lot MORE Bills fans today compared to yesterday.

I can't wait to see how much our fans can impact the game.

I would NOT be surprised if NBC tried to cover it up and not really make it a story.

Tasker and Brown we beating on how long before the announcers made comments about how many bills fans that are there.  It's Mike Tirico covering the pregame and he seems to be behind the bills right now also so I think it will be said a few times.

After looking at the depth charts it looks like Boogie is backing Groot, so I think he dresses.

Von's backup is either Epenesa or Lawson.  So that's why I went that way.

Who dresses may be determined on how much run plays the Bills expect the Rams to have.

Yes, understandable. The reason I think it's possible is that Von rushes from the left side a lot, so I think it's going depend how they plan to use him.  I'd say your view is most likely, but I believe there's a decent possibility of Basham sitting.

I'm really excited.

I wish my parents were alive.

If I could talk to them, I'd say something like this:

The NFL season is about to begin.  You should see and hear what people around the country are saying about the Bills.  You wouldn’t believe it.

Dad, it’s been a while since you’ve seen any football, so it’s really kind of hard to explain.  Remember how good the Dolphins were?  Well, no one’s saying the Bills are going to go undefeated, but people are talking about the Bills potentially being as dominant as those Dolphins were.   Not in the same way – the Dolphins dominated with the run, but no one does that any more.  These days, the Bills dominate with the pass.  No, teams don’t have guys like OJ or Cookie, but they don’t need one.  No one runs the ball as much, because it’s too hard to win that way.  The good teams throw it, and they make do with at least a decent running game.

Mom, you saw Kelly and watched those teams go to the Super Bowls, so you know what that kind of excitement is like.  All of western New York is excited about the coming season, and plenty of fans around the country are, too.  But this is different, too.  Kelly was great, and his teammates, too, but the Bills have a quarterback now named Josh Allen, and I don’t even know how to describe him.  He’s a big guy, 6’5”, 240 pounds, and he throws better than anyone you’ve ever seen.  Kelly, Marino, Aikman, young Peyton, remember those guys?  Allen throws it better than all of them.  Farther, faster, accurate.  And he can run too, better than any QB you ever saw run.  Really, he could be a running back.  Well, almost.

People in Buffalo are pinching themselves, wondering how, after all these years, this has happened.  You know how much we’ve always wanted the Bills to win, but I think we always envisioned some heartwarming overachievers who become champions, like in Hoosiers.  Oh, sorry, you didn't see Hoosiers.  It’s a movie.  Okay, I think we’ve always thought that when the Bills got good they’d be like the Dodgers in the 50s.  Some kind of second class citizens of the baseball world who happened to get good with some workhorses and some Negroes and who managed to win the World Series once before, what?  Before leaving town?

No, the Bills aren't some bumbling team that may have a a magical season.  The Bills look like they will be the Yankees, not the Dodgers.  And what’s so amazing is that people around the country are starting to see that this could be a team that is a serious force in the NFL for ten years or more.  A force like the Chiefs were in the AFL in the late 60s.  Or the Chargers were for a couple of seasons in the AFL, before the Bills took them down.  Or the Packers with Starr.  The Bills could be like that, but not for two or three years, but for ten years!

It hasn’t felt like this in Buffalo, ever.  Maybe during the Pan American Exposition, 120 years ago, the city was excited like this.  People feel good.  It’s so nice for Buffalo.

"Aaron Donald is the nuisance to Josh Allen. Every time we see Josh Allen not being super human it's because of Aaron Donald" - Marcus Spears

Josh Allen has played Donald once. He had 5 total TDs and scored 35 points in a win.

He didn't mean the stats part of it though. Just the 2 times he sacked allen.

A little off-topic, but this site has been slow to load for me twice today (other sites here on wifi are fast). Everyone must be here and really pumped for the game tonight!

PC or mobile?

I’m constantly having issues having pages load here.

the page “hang” halfway as seen on a progress bar.

I often close Safari and reopen the pages

I’ve even opened another window and it loads NFL, ESPN etc while TBD is still choking

Anybody know a place in London (UK) that will screen this game? I am struggling to find anything and probably SOL.

Try the Hippodrome Casino, Leicester Square. They show every game live on a Sunday so might have this game on as well. It’s open 24 hours.
