I suspect it was either Doug or a family member defending Doug stating Doug was ran out of town by the Bills and fans.

Ah.  I guess its possible.   This isn't to defend Marrone or anything but I remember reading a story that his kids were being bullied in school.  It's possible that played a part in him leaving.

Ok. So you made it up. Thought so. Thank you for admitting it.

So I guess there's a chance the Jags might be good in a couple years. That's sad.

No , they still have Khan as their owner. I firmly believe ownership is key to winning, he may want to win but doesn't know how to go about it kind of like Schneider. Thank God we have Terry and he knows how to find good people and let them do their job. He was raw at first and it showed but he knew he had the right guy in McDermott and we are on our way.

That also happened to Mularkey’s kids. That’s not cool that idiot fans did that to the coaches kids.

Sorry but the misinformation here is just wrong.

Hated the marrone hire.
Hated his attitude with the media.
Hated his gutless coaching style.
Hated that he quit because we got stuck with Rex Ryan.
I don’t blame him for taking his money. I just never liked anything about him.
Pretty sure he’s done coaching at the pro level. That record is UGLY.

It’s hard to believe that all went down 5 years ago already.  Where does time go?

Perhaps not publicly but man to man he’d have to admit leaving the Bills was one of the worst professional decisions he made.  Considering how he handled it as well with the group text thing

They did what everyone thought was right - bring in a VP of football operations.  I think he made a few mistakes in building the team (largely forgoing future for present success), but i also think keeping marrone wasn't the right move.  They did bring him in as an heir apparent behind bradley after he quit buffalo, but i thought Coughlin would bring a new level of prestige to a coaching search.

Why fire Coughlin with two weeks left in the season?  Did they need his office for the Christmas party?

That whole thing about the NFLPA.  He was alienating players and kind of forced ownerships hand.

“In the last two years, more than 25% of grievances filed by players in the entire league have been filed against the Jaguars. You as players may want to consider this when you have a chance to select your next club.”

Maybe but they dont have a plan of how to succeed. I've never seen anyone like McDermott who had a plan and processes to win, probably the most ready coordinator to become a HC.

Yeah - i just remember the offseason after rex... it was like - why is whaley hiring anyone?  Shouldn't he be gone?  Or shouldn't we hire a VP to oversee - the pegula's are in over their heads... why is russ brandon still here?! etc.

Once i read about McD i knew we were good, just needed Whaley for the transition.

Right?  Russ Brandon!  It was what... a year and a half ago?  Whaley's press conference?  Was that 2 years ago?  McBeane have turned this clown show around in a hurry.  They're clearly trying to replicate in a way, what teams like GB, Pitt, and NE do year in and year out.  They have stabilized this organization in a very short time, its really impressive.

Someone was on here defending Doug big time after he opted out of his contract saying “Doug was ran out of town.” We all suspected it was either Doug or a family member.

I know I defended the move, but not because he got run out of town. He hated Whaley and vice versa. He got $4 million to leave and took a job in Fl. Ended up being the HC and even took them to a deep playoff run. Got a nice extension on his contract. I don't think he would change a thing. He likes Pegula and he did acknowledge not liking the way he left. Never said he was sorry he left. Big difference. Don't understand why folks are still sensitive to this.

I think he was fine leaving - the contract built in the out and he took it.  I think he was under the impression that he'd get the jets or bears jobs that offseason.  It worked out with him getting the Jags job - and he even put together a nice season there.  But back to back failures with the exact same defense - and him being an offense guy?  Time to go.

i will never forget where I was when Marrone got hired for the Bills. My cousin asked me how do I like Doug Marrone and I replied the Bills better not hire that guy, he is a loser.
Doug has done very little to change my perspective. Even when his teams win it feels like it is in spite of him as the HC.

I think that your perspective is correct about him not being a winner, ie being a loser.  However, at that time I'm also pretty sure that no other quality HC was going to come here.

Didn’t Caldwell go to high school with daboll? Don’t be shocked if daboll goes there should Caldwell survive.

LAC is another potential daboll connection.  Telesco is a frannies guy, too, if memory serves.

Yes they are St. Francis boys like Telescope, and Chris Poland, as am I.  I don’t believe they were there at the same time as my cousin was in homeroom for four years with Caldwell, and never me Daboll.

You might be right though.  It’s a tight fraternity at that school.

Bill Walsh,  Sean Peyton, Bellichick, Mike Tomlin/Bill Cowher and others would like to talk to you about that....

Both reports can be correct simultaneously

How so?

Rapoport:  "Statement from Jim Woodcock, #Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s spokesman: "Reports that Doug Marrone will be dismissed after Sunday’s game are 100 percent incorrect"

Russini: " Jacksonville head coach Doug Marrone has been informed that he will be dismissed following Sunday’s game vs. Colts, per sources."
