The buzz overnight last night on a lot of forums and social media was that there were two teams who absolutely love Ed Oliver and wanted to go up into the top 5 for him. Those two were Atlanta and Buffalo. The Bills met Oliver at the Combine, they went to his pro day, they had him in for a work out and I think they saw him a 4th time too (can't recall where it was). It’s basically a big “hey if you want Quinnen Williams, Buffalo is very interested, your going to have to trade with us!!!”. Thats what this stinks of to me. Yep I think there are teams that had Simmons in the mix too. I agree as well that there are probably more who have Q higher but I think almost every team has Oliver in the top 5 - the media talking heads way over estimated the effect of jacketgate on his draft stock. Teams felt Oliver basically did nothing wrong and have laughed it off. That is why there has been a walking back of the "Oliver could slip" talk the closer the draft got. I would be happy with either Q or Ed Oliver. I suspect it costs us a 2020 #1 to do it.... so the Bills are putting their balls on the line and saying that pick will be a pick in the high 20s in any event. Impact players can come from all rounds of the draft, giving up early picks to land an interior lineman while your WR Corps is definitely still amongst one of the worst in the league is just a bad move. They need to move down, acquire an extra 2nd atleast, then move back into the 1st and grab a WR. I agree DL needs to be addressed, but this class is deep and this would be like trading up for Sammy all over again in a draft class loaded with premium talent at the WR position (Evans, OBJ taken after him in the 1st, Adams, A Rob and Landry all in the 2nd)... They had a great FA, but I think you have more of a chance at finding players to help you win if you have more choices in the first 3 rounds rather than putting all your eggs in one basket like the last regime did with Sammy. Bovada.com maybe?) in the NFL, I would be willing to bet that Quinnen Williams has the best odds, from an actual, literal betting perspective. It's why he's going to be a top 5 pick. It's why he's considered possibly the best player in the class. Mind you, I'm not arguing for them making this move. I don't necessarily want them to.
