YoloinOhio
It’s only because Darnold and Allen aren’t ready to play. They will still take one of them at 1.

Seanbillsfan2206
2018. Meaning a rookie could sit all year and start in 2019. Nothing to see here really... 2

HappyDays
I bet they take Darnold at #1 and build an RPO offense that they can both function in.
Steve Billieve
You gotta figure he'll pull off a couple magic tricks during the season. With his aversion to turnovers they going to have infinitely more wins this year.
BillsFan4
No surprise whatsoever. I dont think Hue Jackson has any interest at all in playing another rookie QB this year. I think Hue HAS TO win some games this season or his arse is fired. I don't think he has the job security at the moment to go through another season of rookie growing pains. I think he wants a steady veteran presence at the QB position.

RyanC883
Yeah, this lasts until the draft when there will be a "competition" with the rookie. On the other hand, it would be very Cleveland to draft Allen #1, which would be fantastic for a number of reasons.
YoloinOhio
There was absolutely no way they were going to start a rookie after how they handled Kizer.

While I can't blame Hue Jackson for finally being happy to have a competent QB, to make a statement that there IS no competition this early sends the wrong message. While McDermott, no matter the player, makes it clear that they have to come in and compete for their job. That's what they call creating a culture. Jackson is creating a poor one, and why he has taken the hit for the 1-31 record despite the talent issues the team has had. Formerly Allan in MD
Anyone who thinks the Browns will be satisfied with Taylor as their franchise quarterback, and the few wins he will bring them, is caught in their smoke and mirrors syndrome. He's a bridge and nothing more.

I’ve got to believe they draft one of the named QB prospects and if so let them compete. This declaration just seems stupid unless they really believe that Tyrod has more to offer than what was on display in Buffalo.

Kelly the Dog
Hue might believe that he is dead man walking if he doesn't improve dramatically in year one. So maybe he strays from the top three and trades down, then picks up more players that can help him this year. Dumb for the team in the long run but self-preservation. Of course not. Personally not a fan of the "open competition" stuff unless you got a bunch of untested players. They got TT to be the starter and he should be treated like one. Let the rookie work his way up to compete for the starter roll. IMO

H2o
Hue knows he has to put up some W's or he is gone. Tyrod gives him the best chance to do that over a Rookie. He is a solid game manager who doesn't turn the ball over.
