Bleeding Bills Blue
Did he make the most of his opportunities? Elite receivers in the NFL have catch rates in the mid to high 70% range while good receivers, like the ones you would pick for your fantasy team most likely, are well into the 60% range. Sammy barely snuck into the 60s in 2015, he barely broke into the 50% range his other two years. Â OOOO stats! what do they know?!

D. L. Hot-Flamethrower
Starter: E.J. Gaines NFL1000 Scores: 55/100NFL1000 Position Rank: 164/192 There was excitement about E.J. Gaines' future after a decent rookie season, but the off-ball specialist was closer to average than anything special even in his best campaign. Two years later, it’s a major concern as to whether Gaines can be a legitimate starter in the NFL. He lacks any standout traits and is more of a warm body who allows receptions with ease. Gaines benefitted from the previous regime, but Wade Phillips will want a more aggressive attitude. An upgrade is needed here.  From Bleacher Report: Wow that's exciting Any average CB at best, yippee, but he fits the system Edited August 11, 2017 by horned dogs

JohnC
Unbelievably bad move. This is not a bad move. It indicates exactly what the organization intended to do when the wrestling coach was hired and the front office staff was assembled to support him. It is a major rebuild done using draft picks to select the players who fit your system and character requirements. The new head coach convinced the owner that taking a year by year Whaley patchwork approach to strive for a wildcard position was a loser's quest for mediocrity. Â These transactions also indicate that anyone who thought that TT was a legitimate franchise qb for a team with serious aspirations was not being realistic. TT is simply a bridge qb with irretrievable flaws for an organization looking for a real franchise qb that you can build around. Â While the majority of people lament what has just happened with these trades I salute these deals as an indication of a meaningful change from how this ramshackle organization has usually operated. I see more deals being made for draft picks. While most people say stop---I say go ahead and do more.

Crusher
Massive failure in what the Bills got in exchange for a elite talent at WR. If he stays healthy...the Bills Got absolutely fleeced. Maybe he doesn't and it looks better, but his career thus far has mirrored Julio Jones'. I wouldn't have let this guy walk for anything less than a first rounder. dave mcbride
they would have picked up his 5th year if they wanted to keep him Are you saying they wouldn't have wanted to keep him if he stayed healthy this year and had 85 catches for 1450 yards and 13 TDs? Golden*Wheels
La Confora was just on WFAN, I tried to type his quotes as close to being quotes as I could. Â Look Mcdermott is the new sherriff in town, he is sick of some of the factions and cliques and infighting going on there. Â You look at some of Doug Whaley guys who could do no wrong. Doug Whaley reached and empowered the player (Sammy) because of that. He drafted a hurt player who stayed hurt who will want a ton of money next year, and had been a divisive player from a personnel standpoint. Â The Bills are reshaping themselves and getting some controversial figures out of the mix.

Kelly the Dog
After a little reflection it's understandable what Beane and Opie are doing, I just don't think it's the right move. They are going way overboard on character and culture to the detriment of talent. You need both. Sammy clearly rubbed them the wrong way and they made a choice that they weren't going to re-sign him. Newsflash, a WR has a big ego and says some questionable things. This was all about making a statement and bringing their own guys in and building a long term team. It may or may not work. Â Right now, it's a bad move IMO. Wasting what is likely Kyle's last year. Maybe not being able to truly evaluate TT in the most important season. Getting rid of star players. Banking on your own ability to do something you have yet to prove you can do under anyone's standard. Â They are looking for a certain kind of player. I can't really think of a team where that has really worked, meaning we want 53 high character guys and we will jettison better players with less character. transplantbillsfan
Head-scratching. Â On the one hand, now it really looks like tanking might be in the cards or back of the minds for OBD. Â On the other hand, I just can't believe Boldin would have come to Buffalo being sold on a team in rebuild mode. Â Â There has to be more to this. Watkins is obviously constantly at risk for an injury. Even last night he came up and I thought he hobbled at one point. Maybe this was just a good move for both parties but it doesn't mean the Bills are trying to tank? Â Just weird.
