He is completely clear that he doesn't need a star receiver at number one and that he just needs to add some quality receiving talent. Given that, the trade back makes a lot of sense, because he can get a quality receiver in the second round and pick up a quality player at another position, as well. 1

The further along the draft goes, the more the prospect grades go down. Right now the WR room is Samuel, Hollins & Shakir. That's it. I would be very careful about being too cute, trading down, and then find out the WR(s) you coveted have now been selected before your Day 2 pick. 1 1

To a certain degree I think that’s said to not add pressure to whoever we bring in. Especially if we don’t supplement with a veteran. I still believe they’d love to get an alpha. Whether the opportunity presents itself is impossible for Beane to know with certainty at this point. But I believe he understands the Bills and Josh are better off with a lead receiver than not.

Franklin and Ladd McConkey are probably the smartest bets on who the Bills might take. They've met with both a lot. The top 4 are probably in consideration but unlikely unless one falls significantly. Mitchell has all the right tools but the character concerns and the stuff leaking about diabetes management concerns probably make him a no go for the Bills, although if I were Beane I wouldn't let that stop me.
TOboy
The trade back option makes sense if they are unable to get up for the guy(s) they love and have several guys rated similarly (maybe Ladd, Franklin, Legette, Worthy?).

SCBills
I'm honestly starting to really come around on the Green Bay method for our Offense. Especially with Kincaid set to take on a bigger role moving forward. Still think we need two above average receivers added to this roster, but I'm not as sold that one of them needs to be a bona fide WR1. 2

But I think we need 1 solid #2, to pair with Samuel and Shakir at WR. Kincaid/Samuel/Rd1/Shakir is a very good group. Add a WR in RD4, say we draft Worthy or Franklin then look for size/blocking. That's basically what we need to have a full complementary group. That also boasts Cook, Knox, and likely some additional RB/WR targets.

If this is the route they're going, I hope they at least draft a couple receivers. I'm fine with volume over a classic "WR1", if that's what they wanna do, but...this receiving corps needs not one, but TWO talented youngsters added to it for that to work, IMO. MrEpsYtown
It's probably posturing, but I have been saying the whole number 1 receiver thing is extremely overblown in today's offenses, especially this scheme which is designed on concepts and spreading the ball around. It would be nice to have a guy like Jefferson or Chase, but you don't have to force the issue for a guy in this draft. 2

Yeah, I think the Packers showed this last year, and honestly, the Chiefs have been showing it to some extent, too. Saying you don't need an old school WR1 is not saying you don't still need good receivers. You do. Down the stretch last year, Jayden Reed became Love's de facto number 1, and Rashee Rice became Mahomes'. Or even look at Amon Ra St Brown on the Lions. None of the three of those guys would fit the old school definition of an NFL WR1. If anything, they're all dependable, chain-moving slot specialists that the QB can look to on third down. The point is, if you have a plethora of good options, you can succeed on offense in this league. You don't necessarily need one GREAT option.

I don't know, every Super Bowl participant for the last like 10 years has had an elite pass catcher. Seems like a prerequisite. I don't think it's fair to expect a rookie WR to be elite right off the bat though so we'll have to try and make do. Drafting two WRs with physical traits high would maximize our chances.

I still think you need a dynamic receiving option that draws double teams and attention and can make plays regularly. But the Bills can work around not having Diggs by utilizing Kincaid as the primary receiver and then spreading the ball around to Shakir, Samuel, Knox, Cook, a rookie drafted highly and the supplemental players like Hollins, Ty Johnson and Shorter. I think you need two WR’s in the draft. One drafted up high to play the boundary consistently and absorb 70-80 targets efficiently and one got depth that can be drafted in rounds 4-5. I don’t think you need to draft a WR at 28 and 60 because Shakir is only a WR3 and Samuel is a gadget WR4.

Biggest waste of money ever. It basically means that the man stands there the whole twelve hours she's in labor an applies an icepack to her spine while she groans. Nothing but respect for women and the birthing process, but I want my $600 back. This could've literally been an email. So dumb.

To win games sure, but to make it to (and win) the Super Bowl you almost certainly need at least one great option. As has been the case for every Super Bowl team going back at least a decade. Our best hope on that front is that Kincaid becomes a great pass catcher. Last year down the stretch he was a good pass catcher. If he becomes a high efficiency 100+ target pass catcher we can have a championship caliber offense. That or one of our rookie WRs hits the ground running which isn't inconceivable, other teams have gotten elite production out of rookies in recent years although it's rare.
