Dang!   Who called this in the backup QB thread?  They should take a bow.

I wanted someone like Jacoby Brissett, but when I saw the contract he got I backed out of the room and shut the door very quietly

I was one.  I wanted a 2-year contract, but that's ok.

I think he could totally stick around. We could always extend him. Let’s see what he looks like because case didn’t look that great call it an audition year.

Josh Allen is veteran it off that I don’t think he needs this anymore

Exactly, I rather have Josh helping Kyle.  It will keep Josh's attention to detail as he does.

They both can keep discussing what Jordan has been teaching and preaching.

Meh. This is bargain basement shopping

He won games for his last team is Young. This is actually a guy that could stick around for a little while.

No he didn’t. He was 0-2 last year. He gets worse the more he plays. He is the interchangeable backup nfl qb who has no real special qualities except “being good in the lockerroom.”  I hope that draft/ sign  a development guy

By last team I mean Carolina not Texas

I should’ve said that

I'm sorry to laugh but on the Houston Texans.  They couldn't even tank right.

Like getting  a younger backup who maybe can stick around a few years or more.

Looking back at a Kyle Allen scouting report, the "Allen" similarities don't end with the letters on the jersey:

STRENGTHS: There’s a reason why he was a top recruit coming out of high school: his arm. Allen possesses a strong arm and is capable of making any throw.

WEAKNESSES: Everything Allen needs to work on is between his ears.....it’s all mental.

Remember how certain you were a certain QB with a sub 60% completion percentage in a weak collegiate conference would never make it!   I remember.

Terrible signing. If Josh goes down were  finished. I would have taken Brissett or brought Kennum back

Keenum signed with the Texans for 2 years, $6.25M, $4M guaranteed.  Cap hit this season $2.8M.  Unclear if we offered him that, and he preferred to go south.

Brissett signed with the Commanders for 1 year, $8M.  Too rich for a backup QB with the Bills current cap situation.

If Josh goes down for any significant period of time season is lost anyway. For team up against the cap having a warm body who fits in the QB room is sufficient. Have to make sacrifices somewhere and backup QB is one I would make with Josh being relatively durable.

Well he won’t be with how dumb Beane is. You have a star QB but refuse to get him high quality linemen and another WR to pair with Diggs.

Offseason is not over and we still have the draft to fill holes. Critical year where FO needs to hit on some of these signings.

Oh, you’re hoping for out of a back up QB is maybe three wins

And a guy that can line up behind Center in a blowout

And that would’ve been true no matter what backup QB we would’ve signed

I’d rather an old dude like Fitz. help Josh see things he can’t see. Fitz made a career out of nothing of an arm. Tells you he had to be thinking…. Seen everything.

Of course Fitz has been thinking.  I mean, he did go to Yale, in case you hadnt heard.

Great move by Beane. Josh gets one of his best friends to hang with and Kyle Allen is a decent backup. Really like this love. Hopefully we draft in the 7th round TCU QB as the 3rd stringer.

I would love Max Duggan as a long term backup solution, and would be ok with Beane using our 5th round pick, or later on him.  He is athletic, but also thinks like a coach.

Brissett signed with Washington for $8M.

Keenum signed 2 years (at his age) with Houston for $6.25M.

Did you really want the Bills to sign those guys for that money?

Kyle Allen's contract isn't in but I'm guessing that he cost $2M or a bit more.

In Kyle Allen's first 2 years in Carolina, he went 6-7.  With the Bills I think he could be .500 if needed.

That's all I can ask for in a cheaper backup QB.
