NFC better than AFC at the top

Coming into the season everyone was drooling over how good AFC would be at the top, now, almost at the midway point of season, it appears the NFC is better. Philly, Dallas, San Fran, Minny are super bowl caliber teams,  whereas in AFC, it’s looking like just Buff and KC.

Just because those teams, Dallas, Minnesota, and San Francisco, could make it to the Super Bowl out of the NFC doesn't mean the NFC is better at the top.  All of those teams, plus the Eagles would be underdogs to the Bills or Chiefs.  So, no, the NFC is not better than the AFC at the top, they just have more parity.

Question how do you lump in San Fran and not mentions Miami or Baltimore. Agenda much.   I mean seriously. A 4-4 San Fran team LOL.

What are the cross conference results to this point???  I am almost willing to Bet the AFC has the edge.

Huh? The AFC plays the AFC. The NFC plays the NFC. The AFC has been beating each other up. The one or two good NFC teams have been beating up on the rest of their crappy conference.

This. The Eagles are paper tigers. Since when is Robert Quinn Von Miller? The way that people are talking, you’d think he was. The Niners? Please. Everyone is in love with CMC, and his dazzling triple crown yesterday, but let’s see how his legs hold out for the rest of the season.  None of those teams stand a chance against the Chiefs or Bills.

And it’s not even close.

Dallas and Minny are only Super Bowl contenders because they are in a weak NFC.  If they were in the AFC, they would be be behind the Bills, Chiefs and Ravens.

People are overlooking the Bengals. They lost a head scratcher in the opener to Pittsburgh in overtime (that stuff happens in Week 1) and then to the Cowboys the next week. But after digging themselves into that hole they’ve been on a roll. I’ll be interested to see how they look tonight.

Without Chase let’s see what Burrow looks like. That is interesting to me as well.

I expect them to win tonight. Burrow might not be as good as Allen and Mahomes but he is close to them IMHO.

Quinn had 18.5 sacks last season. Agree Miller is better and Quinn is having a down year. But if Buffalo traded for him you would be excited he was added to the team.

49ers are far more than CMC, but I Agree Bills and Chiefs are both better.

They also lost to the Ravens 19-17 on Sunday Night Football when their offense looked completely lost. People here in Cincinnati wanted Zach Taylor's head on a platter after that one. They're not a roll They just started playing bad teams. They have looked really good in the last game, but that was against the Falcons who have a lot of injuries in a secondary that wasn't good to begin with. Burrow puts up monster stats against bad teams and looks lost when he plays good defenses. Their offense is 80% 50/50 balls to Chase and Higgins (mostly Chase) on the perimeter. When teams take that away. Burrow holds the ball and takes sacks.  They have no plan B.

San Fran got obliterated by the Chiefs.  They’re not close to the Bills or Chiefs and arguably on a level with the Chargers….in other words third tier if they played in the AFC.

After Philly, I disagree. The Vikings and 49ers have been made to look pedestrian by certain teams.  The 49ers have their divisions number.  Dallas has a good defense, but are too erratic on offense.

I agree the AFC is not what we thought they’d be.  After Buffalo and KC, I’d say the the 3-10 teams in the AFC and NFC are a wash

The NFC is far inferior to the AFC. I’ll take the Bills or Chiefs over anyone in the NFC. The only team I think is a remote threat in the NFC are the Eagles, but their schedule is/has been as soft as butter. They could go into the playoffs at 17-0 and have a real chance of getting blown out in their first game.

IMHO, NOT better than the Bills or Chiefs… but very good.

The entire rest of the NFL ranges from average-mediocre-tire fire trash!

I’m not sold on the Eagles and won’t be until the playoffs. Their schedule is so soft that it’ll be tough to get an accurate read on them.

When Kansas City absolutely undressed SF last week that was it. The Bills/Chiefs are a tier above all the NFC teams...except Philly does look good.  Even though their schedule is cake, they will be a handful if they get to the SB.

their inability to improve their offensive line play & not only protect Burrow but also open up running lanes for Mixon has been an issue from an outsider like myself. It has improved as the season has gone on, (they're not giving up 6-7 sacks anymore). But its almost as if Cinci treats Burrow like he's a Josh Allen & can do everything himself. Boyd's been dinged up a bit, Higgins & now Chase too. Cinci can't really afford for any of these 3 to miss time. If they find a way to get Mixon rolling that'll help them out immensely

Agree with the top 6.  I'd slot the Seahawks in there above the Giants.  NY barely moved the ball against them and lost outright.

Does anyone think an NFC team is better than the Bills or Chiefs?  No...both teams would be favored in the SB against any NFC team.

Yeah, looks like I erased them. Meant to have them above the Chargers as Seattle beat those two teams. They have pretty "soft" schedule and could win their the division, but I'm not yet convinced they will reach a higher tier.

You’re clearly not buying that the Jets are an actual contender.

Current playoff standings:

 1. Bills

 2. Titans

 3. Chiefs

 4. Ravens

  5. Jets

  6. Dolphins

  7. Chargers

  8. Bengals

  9. Patriots

10. Colts

IMO, it's a good bet that the Jets will fall and the Bengals will get in. If so, we could have a VERY competitive first round. I think the Chiefs would be the heaviest favorite but it might be less than a touchdown.

Nope. I think the Jets have a very good, playoff caliber defense, but the offense is a mess and could spiral the team out of the running. Their saving grace is a schedule that has them at home versus Bears, Lions and Jaguars. They almost need to win this week versus the Bills to get to 9-10 wins necessary to make the playoffs. Remaining away games are at Pats, Vikings, Buffalo, Seattle and Miami.

If those standings hold, the Bills don't play in the first round.
