dollars 2 donuts
Thank you, Rico. I am young enough to not really remember his football days and old enough to remember Inside the NFL being an institution. Prayers for Lenny. Additionally, he is another one of those guys where there are photographs of him out there smoking a cigarette on the sideline. Chas56
Always respected him. I hope this time is peaceful for him and his family. I was a fan of his, and I liked Hank and the whole team really. The 60’s were odd (for a number of reasons). I was young and a fan of Cleveland, Buffalo, Dallas and Kansas City at different times. Just glad he kept the AFC streak going after Namath shocked world with an AFC 3rd SB win. The 70’s were then dominating the SB showing they were just as good as the NFC with the Steelers, Dolphins, and Raiders.
Ethan in Cleveland
Like others. I only saw a handful of highlights of him playing. But he was a huge part of my sports viewing life growing up on Inside the NFL. Sad day news. Thoughts for him and his family
Chandler#81
Lenny the Cool! If my Bills weren’t gonna win the AFL, the Chiefs multi-dimensional offense was a thrill to behold, while their Defense and STs were the best the AFL offered. Loved beating them in our 1st ever MNF game, where OJ topped 1000 yrds in the 7th game! KC was the AFL’s best franchise and Lenny was their leader. Thanks for the memories, Lenny! 2

Nitro
I watched him win a Super Bowl in KC and later football commentary. Read his biography and he was a class act and a gentleman. Did anyone ever see him smoking on the KC bench? That was a hoot! Godl bless him.

Bill from NYC
He was an excellent QB. A true tough guy. Maybe it's me but it seems that this year, we are losing lots of iconic people. My respectful advice to all is to enjoy every day that God gives you. Edited August 15, 2022 by Bill from NYC 4 2
RobbRiddick
He was way before my time but I've watched so many clips of the old NFL shows where he was a sideline reporter. A real shame but like Madden and so many other guys, he lived a hell of a life

K-9
Broke my seven year old heart when I watched him and the Chiefs kick our asses in the ‘66 AFL championship game. Always liked him and those Chiefs teams and rooted for them often, especially during SB IV against the Vikes. Travel well, Len Dawson. 4
par73
I was so sorry to hear this. I've always been a fan-- except when the Chiefs beat the Bills to go to the first SB.
SoCal Deek
He was QBing the Chiefs in my first ever game at the Rockpile. I can still hear the roar of the crowd and the clanking of beer bottles rolling down the aisles. 2

Let's Go Buffalo
I have good memories of Len Dawson. Other than that game, like you, I rooted for that Chief’s team. “Leonard” could certainly “matriculate” the ball down the field.
Sierra Foothills
Thanks for posting this news. I always had an admiration for the great teams and players of that era. Len Dawson and Daryle Lamonica each had 3 AFL Championships. So did George Blanda. Jack Kemp won 2. I remember several great games between the Chiefs and Raiders from those days. It was during the early days of colored television and their uniforms were an amazing contrast and feast for the eyes. There's something like 18 Hall of Famers from just those two teams from the late 60s and early 70s and the Dawson/Lamonica battles were a contrast in styles... like watching a boxer vs a slugger. I often wondered if they were friends in retirement so intertwined were their careers. Thoughts and prayers to the great Len Dawson and his family. Thank you for all the great memories. 1

Chandler#81
Those 60’s/70’s Chief teams were loaded! HOFers & superstars on OL -Buddy, Tyrer, Holub, 1-eyed TE Fred Arbanas, Garrett, McVey, Holmes, Pitts and, of course Otis Taylor. Defense led by Buck Buchanan, Aaron Brown, Curly Culp, Jim Lynch, Willie Lanier, Jim Marsellis, Johnny Robinson & Bobby Bell. Jan Stenerud? Are you effin’ kidding me?! Sargent Hulka
I always respected Dawson. I still remember the 31-7 drubbing we took at War Memorial back in the "66 AFL Championship. If it couldn't have been us going, I was okay with the Chiefs. I also remember the Raiders Ben Davidson giving Dawson a cheap shot (which Davidson was noted for), and then Otis Taylor going after Davidson. 13 hours ago, K-9 said: 65 Toss Power Trap!

BigAl2526
I do remember the days when he was QB of the Chiefs, and I watched a few of the games where he was QB.
