“Up to” $84M.

The first number you hear is always released by the player/agent, and it’s always overly generous.

His real numbers will not touch $21M per year. The devil is in the details. Wash, rinse, repeat.

The real number is $18M....which is still absolutely absurd and one of the worst contracts I've ever seen.

Lol, well so much for the Kirk thread... Looks like he wasn't quite ready to  go to a contender yet and went with the big bucks. I can't fault him for it by any means, people are in different points in life and do what is best for them.

Would have been nice though

Remember when we had to overpay to get people like the Derrick Dockery's of the world?

What a great vote of confidence in your young QB.

Evidently Albright is saying the Texans didnt say No.  Watson said No as part of his no trade clause.

Is anyone actually buying this twit from Twitter? You won't get a better haul than what the Jets offered no matter what they think of Wilson.

Albright also said it wasnt the Texans that said No it was Watson (no trade clause)

The Texans said No, or Watson said No?

There is debate here.  Albright is saying Watson is the one that killed it

That's a hell of a haul from them how do they turn that down?

Like Bobby said, I bet this was Watson saying 'absolutely not' to the Jets. No clue on the Browns, though, you'd think he would want to go to that team.

Not sure if this is well known.  Reportedly Bills were reached out to by JC Jackson at the Combine

"Another possibility could be standout corner J.C. Jackson from New England. Jackson is arguably the top free agent available, regardless of position and one can’t discount the desire to show Belichick and the Patriots they made a mistake by not bringing him back. The Bills have a need at boundary corner opposite of Tre’davious White. Could a 1-year deal (a la what Derrel Revis did with New England) be in the cards?"

Speculation is he was one of the guys to reportedly reach out to the Bills.  Other guy was Chandler Jones.

Wonder if the delay in signing of these guys is the Bills working on clearing cap space?

We would have an unstoppable secondary. Wonder what it would cost.

Well those are both UFAs so none of the real top ones have agreed to terms during tampering period yet

So this is the actual start of free agency and not legal tampering?

These are reported 'agreements in principle' made by player agents and GMs. The new 2022 league year starts at 4:00 PM Wednesday and these deals cannot actually be signed until that time unless they are with the player's 2021 team, hence the stupid 'legal tampering' moniker. Teams are not allowed to talk to these players until the new league year begins (wink, wink, nod, nod) so everything is done thru engagement with the agents. Most of these are formalities at this point but they are not final until signed. A few years back, Minnesota's UFA LB Anthony Barr had a deal in place to go to the Jest during this window and backed out at the last second and re-signed with the Vikes.

The TE market is completely out of control.

The amount of money bad to average TEs have gotten the past two off-seasons is crazy.

Wtf.

Like when the Bills signed Tyler Kroft to a 3 year/$18,750,000 deal? That was just so bad.

All Edmunds bashing all the time.

Not sure what’s worse, Edmunds’ processing speed or the people that think he’s worth 13M+ per year.

he’s a good player but won’t be worth his contract from this point on imo and it will always be a talking point.

This is more than likely the case. Watson has to approve any deal due to his no trade clause. Houston Chronicle reporter John McClain, who has been covering Houston football since the 'Dark Ages', was on Sirius/XM NFL Radio yesterday and he speculated that Watson would end up with either the Panthers or Saints with the Seahawks as a darkhorse although he questioned New Orleans' ability to make it happen due to their cap situation. He said because Watson grew up in the South and played all of his football to this point in the South (Pee Wee, HS, college, & pro) he was most comfortable there and just couldn't see him approving a deal to a northern team like the Browns or Stillers. He also said that Watson would probably feel most comfortable and would be better accepted in Carolina because of his status at Clemson and the public's familiarity with him. Basically, Watson might receive less backlash from that fan base than most others. Unfortunately for the Texans, most of the leverage in this situation is held by Watson.

Not to mention he also may not want to go to an AFC team looking how loaded the conference is with top QB's. NFC has Rodgers, Brady, maybe Stafford, after that there is not many top QB's in the NFC.
