Logic
“Up to” $84M. The first number you hear is always released by the player/agent, and it’s always overly generous. His real numbers will not touch $21M per year. The devil is in the details. Wash, rinse, repeat.

MAJBobby
Not sure if this is well known. Reportedly Bills were reached out to by JC Jackson at the Combine "Another possibility could be standout corner J.C. Jackson from New England. Jackson is arguably the top free agent available, regardless of position and one can’t discount the desire to show Belichick and the Patriots they made a mistake by not bringing him back. The Bills have a need at boundary corner opposite of Tre’davious White. Could a 1-year deal (a la what Derrel Revis did with New England) be in the cards?" https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2022/3/14/22977903/two-premier-defensive-free-agents-reached-out-to-bills-at-combine

ExWNYer
37 minutes ago, nucci said: So this is the actual start of free agency and not legal tampering? These are reported 'agreements in principle' made by player agents and GMs. The new 2022 league year starts at 4:00 PM Wednesday and these deals cannot actually be signed until that time unless they are with the player's 2021 team, hence the stupid 'legal tampering' moniker. Teams are not allowed to talk to these players until the new league year begins (wink, wink, nod, nod) so everything is done thru engagement with the agents. Most of these are formalities at this point but they are not final until signed. A few years back, Minnesota's UFA LB Anthony Barr had a deal in place to go to the Jest during this window and backed out at the last second and re-signed with the Vikes. No clue on the Browns, though, you'd think he would want to go to that team. This is more than likely the case. Watson has to approve any deal due to his no trade clause. Houston Chronicle reporter John McClain, who has been covering Houston football since the 'Dark Ages', was on Sirius/XM NFL Radio yesterday and he speculated that Watson would end up with either the Panthers or Saints with the Seahawks as a darkhorse although he questioned New Orleans' ability to make it happen due to their cap situation. He said because Watson grew up in the South and played all of his football to this point in the South (Pee Wee, HS, college, & pro) he was most comfortable there and just couldn't see him approving a deal to a northern team like the Browns or Stillers. He also said that Watson would probably feel most comfortable and would be better accepted in Carolina because of his status at Clemson and the public's familiarity with him. Basically, Watson might receive less backlash from that fan base than most others. Unfortunately for the Texans, most of the leverage in this situation is held by Watson.
