Great point, it makes total sense. Why ruin what works? Rookie QB’s are known to make crazy mistakes. However, Jimmy G isn’t the best with ball security either. He also seems incapable of making plays that redeem those mistakes. It’s possible rookie mistakes would even out if the guy was capable of making big plays. I suppose there’s a certain level of comfort with a veteran QB, and he got them to the championship game, regardless of my opinion. I just can’t imagine being an offensive minded coach like Shanahan and not getting restless enough to make a move. I suppose he deserves credit for being patient. Watch KC with Alex Smith in the playoffs, then watch Jimmy G playoff football. Jimmy G gives you bottom shelf QB play, Smith was a step up imo. Yeah, it might be a coinflip regarding which of the two is going to hurt you less.
