He was involved in a dispute over injury with the WFT who basically were implying he was faking the injury. He threatened retirement trying to get them to trade or release him.

Doc Brown
I think Staley got more last year in guaranteed money so this pry isn't as crazy as it seems. Just glad KC didn't get him.

machine gun kelly
I know he is a elite Left Tackle, but he also turns 33 this summer. Even if he only gets the guarantee among three years and is 36, that would still be over $18 mil./yr. it doesn’t seem like a good deal for both sides, only the player.
NewEra
Great player....but wow. He’ll be 33 before the season starts. 55M gtd...look like it could be a 3 year contract paying him 23M a year if SF chooses

You are almost certainly correct but will they regret signing a 33 year old for 3 years? It seems like a huge investment in an older guy.

OrtonHearsaWho
Happy for the man after what he dealt with in Washington. I'm also happy that we were able to sign the Shnowman when we did!

Doc
Dumb. He’ll be 33 just before the season starts. But at least it keeps him away from AFC competitors, for whom he could be good at least for the next couple years.

This is the best, and most relevant, part of this news. Chiefs released both OTs, then missed on Williams. Buffalo re-signed both of their starting OTs. Win for the Bills. Didnt WFT med staff "overlook" a brain tumor w/o telling him. Details are fuzzy but i remember thinking it sounded borderline criminal what they did. Dont blame him one bit for getting out of dodge

BillsShredder83
Heres the article on what happened with Williams and the tumor in his head. Drs were aware, but decided football was more important. They ignored it for years, and the second he went outside the organization, they told him it was weeks away from growing to his brain where it had a high chance of becoming lethal. I cant believe how much this organization has swept under the rug. Anywhoooo, glad Trent got out of there and got paid! https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/10/31/trent-williams-reveals-he-had-cancer-says-redskins-failed-test-it-six-years/
