Bills UDFA thread. Signings only. Listed on pg. 9

Message added by Hapless Bills Fan

This is a general message. Do not take it personally, unless it applies to you (then please, take it personally)

Just spent time I'll never get back cleaning a bunch of religious and political not football related schtuff out of this thread.  If you find that your post has gone AWOL, please take the hint and refrain from similar posts on TSW going forward.  A little joking around or off-topic is one thing but this was drowning the thread.

There are literally thousands of places to discuss your love of or your disdain for religion, politics etc etc - but only a few places to discuss Buffalo Bills football.

Go Bills!

FAU OT Brandon Walton

UNC RB Antonio Williams

FIU DB Ike Brown

Appalachian State DB Josh Thomas
Auburn OL Marquel Harrell

Toledo FB/TE Reggie Gilliam

those all confirmed

Antonio Williams is ok. App St Josh Thomas has a little more promise. He was a 5 year starter 4 year captain played in 5 bowl games and won 4 conference titles. Sounds like a winner and leader to me. Although over 5 years would think he could grab a couple more picks than 6 or 7. The only other person I've watched play (If you' watched Auburn at all you have too) on this list is Marquel Harrell. They could not get any gound game going against LSU, Bama, or Georgia.  But managed some what ok running days outside of that this year. And Bo Nix looked good enough.

None of them even have an NFL.com profile. Not the greatest sign.

Only Bills UDFA so far that I'd consider potentially more than just a camp body is Josh Thomas.

We will be a very unattractive place for UDFAs to sign this year. Despite a history of giving them a chance, its clear we have a loaded roster and it's one the toughest places to stick on a roster in the league at the moment.

Has he ever kicked in wind? I don’t know anything about him

He’s a early draft entrant which doesn’t happen too often for punters, so he is young and a little raw. Out kicks his coverage from time to time. His uncle was a pinter for 17 years and his dad was a long snapper. He’s been doing it his entire life. He obviously punted in the wind on the road, averaged 48 at Utah this year, and he started his career at Lafayette in Pennsylvania, so he’s done the wind thing, albeit Buffalo takes some adjustment for any punter. He is so much better than what we have here, so I hope it works out. Arizona State wasn’t all that good, so him flipping the field kept them in a lot of games. Probably find out today where he signs.

What did he say? I’m honestly asking, because I didn’t listen. Thank you in advance.

They asked about Vedvik. He said he has three positions. 1st is Punter, Kick Off Guy and then Long FG Specialist.

he sounds very High on him everytime he talks. I really think the Putin’s job is gonna be Vedvik’s to lose. They asked about kicker and such in draft and he said he wanted to get two punters and 2 kickers into camp this offseason.

they now have that so I don’t think anything is happening there

Daboll can’t wait to send him deep at a critical time in the playoffs

As long as he takes two defenders with him like DiMarco did, it will remain a good call on Daboll's part.

Someone just needs to tell Josh not to THROW it to the double-covered fullback.

Trey Adams hey?

Was in that first round mock from a year ago that got posted yesterday...

He was  a guy that I had in mind for the 6th/7th round...

Will watch with interest ?

Yes! I wanted us to take a late round (6th or 7th) on this guy!  Has a bunch of injury concerns, thrilled we got him without using a draft pick

I'd love to sit in when McDermott has his first meeting with one of these guys.  I'd be interested to hear what he says.   I suspect it includes:

1.  Compete.   It's about competition at every position.   Yes, there are guys ahead of you, but compete.

2.  Be a great teammate.

3.  Study.

4.  If you make our team, great.  If you don't, and you've done 1-3, you may be able to catch on with another team.   If you've done 1-3, and if we see a future for you, we will want you on our practice squad, where you can compete, be a great teammate and study.

5.  Remember, you're here because we think you can have a career in the NFL.

I wonder how much Trey and the Bills can do with respect to strength and conditioning to help Trey prevent a recurrence of his back injury issues.  The injury issue is the major obstacle that could prevent him from having a nice NFL career.

Adams makes a ton of sense as an upside add. He’s got length, has had injury issues, but this is the kind of guy you bring along in your weight training program. Very Connor McDermott-ish with more upside.

Yea he HAS to control his weight ratio. If he cab he has a chance to play in this league. Had a 5th on him surprised he went undrafted but not shocked.

Washington offensive lineman Trey Adams

Adams, who is 6-foot-8 and 314 pounds, might have been the best lineman in the Pac-12 two years ago but knee and back surgeries derailed his college career. A disastrous combine didn't help. He had a 5.6-second 40-yard dash, a 24.5-inch vertical leap and a 7-foot-8 broad jump, among the worst at the combine. Adams had several offers, before deciding on the Bills.

Looks like Trey was 274 when he became a Huskey.   Doesnt look like they really forced him in college to train with weights.   After the lengthy recovery from back and knee surguries he lost his speed and athletism that made him so appealing.   He said that after going through all that it made him sit back and re-evaluate life and decide how much he really wanted to play football.   He also said that the hardest thing coming back from an injury is the mental aspect of trusting that your body is healed and everything is ok...he said mentally he feels great and completely trusts body.  Said he feels stronger than before....started all 13 games his final year.

Hopefully just a case of getting his body built back up physically now.

maybe this is why he fell

He fell because ause he had knee and back surgery and wasn’t the same as in pre injury

im fine signing him as a UDFA who may be a 2 yr project and see if he can return to form.

I'm still trying to figure out why so many think we need three punters on the roster.

I mean one guy blows and the other guy poops his pants under pressure and is a kicker switching to punter. So I feel like we have zero punters in the roster right now.

If a punter is an obsession to a lot of people on here, then the Bills must have one helluva roster.

The Niners in their heyday NEVER had a good punter.

It really hurt them from winning a million SB's didn't it?

I should add that Vedvik was a K/P in College so it isn’t like he’s never done it before. But banking on him being real competition is like thinking we’d be fine at QB with Jeff Teul.

Not according to his YouTube interview his ahem length is apparently lacking.  Sorry couldn’t resist ?
