What's a unique/hot draft take that you hold to?

I just read nick bosa’s scouting report on Chase. I always said that Chase is the better prospect than either Bosa coming out of college but I think some people are biased because they’ve already seen the Bosas in the NFL. Nick confirms it. Scary.

I was thinking about putting 12 but thought that might be a little too much....but I wouldn't be surprised.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he scratches at Kearse's rookie record to be honest.

Especially if he goes to the redskins which already has a talented DL. Won’t be able to see many double teams

I always thought that Chase was ahead of the Bosa’s. That game that he played at PSU in the whiteout in 2018 was as good a game as I’ve ever seen. He was absolutely dominant.

It’s because as Nick points out, Chase is a freak athletically in addition to the coaching/technique and then the flawless work ethic. The bosas were/are obviously gifted athletes but not with that same ridiculous god given element that can’t be taught.

I find the hype over the WR class a tad strange, to be honest. There's only a select few guys that I've watched that make me think they'll be of a high level.

Hamler and Jefferson included, it's more a case of "if they find the perfect fit, they could be productive enough to make a nice career for themselves" with a ton of the other guys. In terms of future projection, I wonder how many of them end up being seen as replacement level once you have to give them a second contract.

The “deep WR” draft narrative has been twisted a bit by the media to pump ratings. There’s really just a lot of guys who could be solid contributors out there, not superstars.

Do you think Young is better than Garrett as a prospect coming out?

I didn’t watch any of Garrett in college so not sure. The one thing I’ll say may set Young apart from him -without the background on Garrett - is that young is refined technique wise already because he had the same coaching as the two pass rushers that came before him and each won DROY

Not sure if I have any super hot takes with respect to specific players...

  • More generally, this draft has the potential to create a serious "haves" and "have nots" in the league for years to come. Some teams are going to absolutely bomb this draft and others are going to find steals right and left -- I wouldn't be surprised if 3 or 4 years from now, you'll see a few SB champs as having been those teams who crushed it. Follow up hot take -- those who excel are likely going to be the more analytics/tech-forward teams (and not just because the draft will be virtual)...

  • There's going to be some picks that will appear to us as being bonkers reaches -- TE, Edge, QB and LB talent all really fall off after the obvious couple prospects.

  • Probably doesn't qualify, but here it is anyway, there will also be guys who drop like lead balloons and the commonalities with them will be a) behavioral, b) injury risk, c) small school/poor competition prospects, d) (less likely) personality "issues" -- put another way, most teams will be playing it VERY safe. I won't be surprised if a guy like Sahdiq Charles goes undrafted...

  • A vast majority of the trades that go down will occur early in each day, as they'll have been scoped out the night prior. Wouldn't look for a ton of action late in the 1st, 3rd, or really anytime after the 5thish...

I don't care how 'good' the draft beer is, bottled beer is superior.

While I do not agree, in the wake of Covid-19 it is certainly the wiser choice. Let's face it, I've seen bartenders washing glasses, it was always the wiser choice.

This draft specifically? There is only one CB that has a 1st round grade.

Drafting in general? There’s almost no excuse to draft a TE in the first round. Ever.

So I do have Fulton there but he is just a first to me and there is a huge gap between he and Okudah.

Can't have CJ Henderson. Too many mistakes.

The Bills trade back with their 2nd and 6th and 7th round picks to get an extra 3rd and 4th.

So they would have a later 2nd, 2 3rds, 2 4ths, a 5th and a 6th

Not to pee in your Cheerios but the math doesn’t work. I wish that it did but it doesn’t.

Fair enough. It was a quick thought that wasn't fully fledged, although I do stand by that they'll trade down

I’d be cool with that. They could do something like 54 & 128 for 62 & 94. That works out almost perfectly. The Bills would have 62, 86, & 94 in that scenario. That’s one avenue to the 3 picks in the top 100ish that I think they want.

Not one fan will show up for the draft.

Also, for the first time ever Roger Goodell will not be booed.

Someone will figure out how to Zoom bomb the draft and broadcast some pornhub while Goodell is announcing a 5th round pick.

If they could do that, still get Anae or Greenard, get a running back and take the DB that they are inevitably taking in the first 3 rounds somewhere that would be a good outcome.

I think it's likely that all of the top 4 OTs are disappointments relative to their fanbases expectations and their draft positions.

Despite this there will be wild rejoicing by those fanbases immediately after the draft and wild declarations of OL dominance for years to come.
