Marshallp29
I feel we should at least bring him in on a cheap 1 year deal. I know he is older and coming off an injury but this staff and front Office has made this type of move in the past. I don't feel it would hurt to have a solid vet like Delanie and Dawson knox at TE. BuffaloBills1998
He can’t stay healthy, this is like us going after Olsen. We need to get younger and healthier at the position. Edited April 2, 2020 by BuffaloBills1998

BuffaloBillies
Knox, Kroft, Croom, Smith, Sweeney - Knox should excel in yr 2 - Kroft should return to form if injury free - Croom can catch, and is a bit of an unknown - Smith can block and be a pain in the a** to defenses - Sweeney can chip in here and there 1

atlbillsfan1975
Unless someone falls in the draft to the late rounds that Beane valued much higher, I don’t expect anything other than UDFA at this point added to the TE room.
Marshallp29
Tyler Kroft on his best day is not better than Delanie Walker on his worst day. We all know why Croom is still around, Lee Smith is purely a blocker and I am fine with Sweeney. I like Sweeney as a development TE going forward. As of right now I would get Walker even as a red zone threat is better than all we have. We can rotate him in to extend his career at least for 1 year he doesn't have to play every snap. MrEpsYtown
I’d take Walker in a heartbeat. He is older, but he can still do some things. People need to stop counting Croom as something. I love Knox, I like Sweeney’s upside and Kroft is going to be here. But bringing Walker into the room is not a negative at all. I’d rather draft Dalton Keene and use him as Fb\te hybrid

Florida Bills Fanatic
Walker has been a very good player and an even better guy in the locker room and community. IMHO his best days are behind him and it would be a waste of a roster spot to carry him into training camp. There is no need to do this. It appears to me that Beane believes that the team is set in the TE position group.

Don Otreply
No need, imo I think that Beane & SM are good with how things stand with the TE room. Of course when I say stuff like this the odds increase that we add someone... Go Bills!!!
Marshallp29
All our TE'S combined are no where near as good as Delanie. Knox has shown potential. Why cant you have potential and experience at the TE spot? Youth is great but a savy vet that knows his role, how to get open and is good at catching and blocking I would take for 1 year easily.
947
Yeah, I would consider Walker. The reality is that Kroft may be an OK TE2 "if healthy", but he's never been healthy for more that several weeks at a time. Smith is a blocker-only, & the penalties are a problem. I don't think we'd lose anything without those 2 guys, & I can't see both making the final 55 anyway. Walker has actually been successful before, he's a 3x Pro Bowler. That's the type of mentor who could really help Knox develop.

Logic
I had this whacky vision last night that Jason Croom was going to come out of nowhere this year and snag a roster spot. Supremely athletic for the position, probably past his injuries now, plus he's banging the owner's daughter. Watch out for Croom.

Rc2catch
I’ve always liked walker but I don’t think he brings anything to this squad. We have our mismatch pass catcher in Knox and I don’t want any aging vet on his last leg taking reps from Knox. He’s the future and focus as of now.

Everyone on that list can at least block. Croom is the KB of TE’s, not fast enough to be a WR and not strong enough to be a TE. To be honest I would be very happy if we only kept Knox and Sweeney. I would sign Walker and another rookie to round out the TE depth chart.

Victory Formation
I think Dawson Knox is going to be a real good player for us and I haven’t given up on Sweeney yet. I think Sweeney can be a nice #2 option behind Knox. I think we’re golden at tight end, we simply need to let them grown n develop. We have a great base for a stew, just got to let the juices thicken and simmer together. I think we see these two guys take a huge leap this year. If you compare Knox’s stats to other elite TE’s numbers in their rookie year it’s damn near identical. He has so much potential it’s insane. Since they were looking to add a veteran I think that’s a more damn statement that maybe Sweeney ain’t there yet, but still a 7th round pick on a stupidly cheap contract for the next 3 years, what’s not to like? He can block, can catch pretty good, may not get a ton of separation but still gets open nonetheless.

Dopey
No thanks. Gonna be 36 yrs old before the season starts, has played in only 8 games in the last 2 years and put on IR both seasons. He done. https://titanswire.usatoday.com/2020/03/13/tennessee-titans-delanie-walker-statement-cut/ "Unfortunately, the 35-year-old veteran had trouble staying on the field the past two seasons, leading to him getting cut. The move will save the Titans $6.4 million in 2020. Walker suffered a brutal ankle injury in 2018 that ended his season after just one game, and that same ankle wasn’t able to fully heal for him to make it all the way back in 2019, resulting in him being placed on IR after seven games played."
