MJS
Bills QB Josh Allen maturing, becoming a must-watch playerBy Mike Giardi "The Buffalo Bills and their rabid fan base got the full Josh Allen experience this past Sunday in a 21-17 win over Cincinnati. The second-year quarterback threw an ill-advised third-quarter interception that opened the door for the visiting Bengals to climb out of a 14-point hole and eventually take the lead in a game they had no business winning. But Allen's desire to always make something happen came to fruition late in the fourth quarter, when the dual-threat signal-caller operated coolly from the pocket for completions of 7 and 49 yards, then turned to his legs, running three times in a four-play span (gains of 6, 8 and 7) to set up Frank Gore's game-winning 1-yard plunge with just under two minutes left in the game. The win, in front of the New Era Field faithful, improved the Bills to 3-0, their best start since the 2011 season." ... "Despite his carelessness at times, Allen has become a must-watch player in this league, one Patriots assistant coach and former All-Pro linebacker Jerod Mayo compared to former NFL star Michael Vick, minus the 4.3-second 40 speed. The 23-year-old is growing, as he should be, with just 14 professional starts under his belt. His rookie season was a roller coaster, but his late-season performance was one that had Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll optimistic when I spoke with him about Allen at the scouting combine in February. You can see why Daboll was (and still is) excited. Allen has a unique blend of athleticism, fearlessness and an arm that just about every other quarterback in the league would trade their own for." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001059396/article/bills-qb-josh-allen-maturing-becoming-a-mustwatch-player I agree that Allen is must-watch football, and that didn't start this year. Coming back from injury last year he became a must-watch player because of his big play ability, great athleticism, and competitive, gamer style of play. He's continued that this year. You just never know when he will make a big play. 3rd and long is not as daunting as it used to be. The entire nation will be keyed in to this game and it gives Allen a chance to really leave an impression with people. Let's hope he rises to the challenge. 15 2

Apocalypse Nuts
Remember the old days when you could have the QB with the cannon arm but couldn't run to save his life? (looking at you Drew Bledsoe) Allen is truly always must-watch. He must really piss of D-linemen who think they've got him dead-to-rights only to see him slip out and spin away time and again. What was the old joke about Bledsoe? Something like: What runs faster? Drew Bledsoe or a cardboard cutout of Drew Bledsoe? I forget the answer but you get it. Was so true though. Josh Allen ain't no statue and he actually throws farther than Bledsoe!
zow2
I don't live in WNY anymore, but I can tell you that Josh Allen is not yet a must-watch amongst the average NFL fan. He's not talked about much outside of WNY or the hardcore NFL media types. People know of him, but they aren't fascinated by Josh Allen like they are Baker or Lamar Jackson...or now Daniel Jones. If Josh looks great this weekend and the Bills beat New England, that will change.

NoHuddleKelly12
The anticipation of knowing he's capable of pushing the ball downfield for chunk plays no matter the down/distance, is what for me is so different from our previous signal callers during the drought--Kelly brought that same positive unpredictability, but minus his own running component.

I think the point is that fans of other teams are beginning to see Allen as an exciting player to watch regardless of fan loyalty. 1 minute ago, NoHuddleKelly12 said: The anticipation of knowing he's capable of pushing the ball downfield for chunk plays no matter the down/distance, is what for me is so different from our previous signal callers during the drought--Kelly brought that same positive unpredictability, but minus his own running component. Absolutely. So sick of the check down QB's that are scared to throw an INT. Tyrod was a decent QB, but his hesitance to throw the ball was maddening ALL the time. So glad we have a guy who has to rein it in instead of being coaxed by the coaches to take more chances. 3

Kind of a double edged sword. To me it's pretty clear that the offensive line is loads better than last year. Doesn't mean they are really good or even above average, but they are better than last year for sure. It will still take a few more off seasons to get it up to what it should be. Klaus
I am going to define "must watch" in my own terms. Nobody is saying that Allen is an elite QB. Nobody is saying the Bills will win the Superbowl. But Allen IS an exciting player to watch and the Bills ARE undefeated and look to be on the right track towards consistent success. Interesting comment from person at work: He was surprised Josh Allen did not get the Angry Run award against Bengals and he expected him to get it every week since he seems to want to mix it up with defense. I asked if he watched this week and he said "No, just saw name of winner." "That is our rookie TE who caught a ball from him."
