Anderson fined pittance for late hit on Allen

If they started suspending players for these hits, instead of just fining them, these hits would stop pretty quick. I know sometimes they just fall into the qb and players can't help it, but in this instance (and others) a suspension would speak alot louder than a small fine

Agree, that should be a suspension.  There was no "benefit of doubt" about it.

But...at least it was put in front of the league that the refs missed it and agreed that it was a foul and merited a fine.  So that's better than nothing.

Yep.

Would cost those players more. Just saw this fine update at the end of the other Anderson cheapshot thread...

Pittance schmittance, they busted him! That’s what’s important. It reinforces Gregggg’s methodology, sends a message to all teams about these current Jets and puts this loser on League notice.

Thankfully, Josh wasn’t injured. It exposed the jests as the bush League team EVERYONE believes they are.

Looks like Jets scumbag Henry Anderson was fined $10,527 by the league.

Does a fine like that for a guy making millions actually curb the behavior?

Should be exponential then forfeiting games for repeat cheapshot artists.

It escalates by offense

Looking at the fines I noticed Tyrel Dodson was fined $174k.

Is this in ADDITION to the weekly checks he will miss? If so he wont even touch 6 figures this year after taxes.

Hope he learned his lesson. If you can't handle your drinks, just stay sober.

Two fines in his career and he’s a scumbag? Wow. Maybe it’s because those two fines concern Bills players? I’ll have to research more to see who holds the most fines and is still playing. If any of you know, please advise.

However for him there is no guarantee he will be on roster to pay the fine and I doubt he got enough in training camp to pay it.

Just look up on field fines to eliminate the drug addicts and domestic violence guys.

Suh should rise to the top along with Sheldon Richardson and a few others. Hines Ward might be up there too for crack back blocks.

Which makes me wonder if he signs to the PS does a fine that stiff still stick? His full season earnings PLUS more (unless Bills pay hi, above the minimum)

Yup....the difference between $0 and $10k is bigger than the difference between $10k and $50k.  Jets, Greggo and Anderson now on league's radar.

what a friggen joke of a fine.   if that was Brady guy would have been suspended 2 games.   thing is,  he's a smart guy,  and wouldnt touch the golden boy like that.

the double standard in this league lives on.

id like to hear the exact reasoning the league gave for this garbage fine.   NFL continues to be an inconsistent joke.   where names mean more than letter of the law.

Inconsistent joke?? Ya mean like AB playing this week after 4 weeks of The Real World culminating in a spoog on a lady’s back (not to mention other alleged acts). I’ll say.

Yes it was.

You said the fine should have been a percentage of his game check.  The fact is, ANY amount of fine would have been a percentage of his game check, thereby meeting your criteria.  I think your issue is, you wanted the percentage to be HIGHER than the percentage he was actually fined.

What's the actual percentage that you think is proper?

Fines are stupid in the NFL.  Make it really hurt; suspend them a game, or a half, or whatever.  Keep them off the field (and thus lose pay) because of their actions.

They are especially stupid because if the player elects to donate the fine the league cuts the amount in half. So essentially Anderson would be out of pocket $5,263, if he donates. Love that the money goes to a charity but cutting the amount in half isn’t going to hurt a player.

Love it? Depends on the charity. I mean, if it’s Scumbags Anonymous or the Spousal Shrew Association...

Especially when the League is trying to protect QBs.  That play he was trying to injure the QB AFTER the play.

Right. I understand if it's a low hit on a qb and it's unintentional, but in this case, a suspension would stop these things real quick
