I never said anything about converting Tyree to a TE. Don't put words in my mouth. Now, why is converting Duke to a TE silly?

I merely included Tyree because it’s been a somewhat popular opinion here lately.

And it’s silly because his best attribute is being able to use his body against smaller DBs. That quickly goes out the window once he’s asked to go against LBs. He’s a fringe NFL WR much less a TE.

Cutting Duke is pure stupidity.  We've been looking for a jump ball redzone threat since KB or even James Hardy. Unbelievable?

Really?  And who's been looking for a jump ball redzone threat, you?

But that can work both ways in that other teammates see this guy isn't producing, why is he still here?  Like the jokes about Vlad having bad pics of Beane so he kept his job.

It's no different that most work environments. "Hey boss I heard there may be a layoff?" "Nope no truth to that rumor"   Next day, layoffs announced.  My point being players get it.  And also maybe he wasn't the locker room leader that he tended to be made out to be.

I hear ya, but as having been through many rounds of layoffs there's a difference between the boss who gives weak lie and pleads ignorance/avoids the subject versus the boss that completely lies to you at length.  Understand the former, mistrust the latter.

I don't get the Duke Williams cut.  No way he clears waivers.

(...)

Williams is puzzling.  Getting rid of a big redzone target is not a way to help a young qb.

We'll see.  Duke showed himself a willing blocker, and hauled in some contested catches the last couple games, but from what I saw, he was struggling to separate even against the backup DBs.  I think he needs some work before he's ready to stick on a roster - it's a part of the NFL game that's very much different than the CFL where the WR get a running start.

We tend to choose favorites here and overestimate their attractiveness from the viewpoint of other teams.

Stlll lots of cuts to be made.  The timing of these is interesting...perhaps hoping to "bury" some releases among the noise to sneak guys on the practice squad?

Agreed. I think that’s why the cuts are staggered the way they are.

Don't 37 players have to be released/traded to go from 90 to 53?

That's what I initially thought, but I still have players have 10 players that not been mentioned anywhere and that I'm presuming were not locks to make the team.

Good job, but 90-53=37.  I think we have a couple guys you missed who were IR/injury settlement though

(rummage rummage): Released with Injury Settlement: OL De'Ondre Wesley; Injured Reserve: DE Mike Love "

So 9 more

I'd rather have Cam Phillips. He's a big strong receiver unlike Sills.

Huh?  Sills is three inches taller and 10 pounds heavier than Cam...
