947
NE's offense has the ability to mask subpar OT play, because the ball is literally out in 1.5 seconds on passing plays. Nate Solder was never a very good LT in NE, but he was highly rated because he did his job for those 1.5 seconds. He got paid by the Giants for that, and went on to suck for them, because they run a more traditional passing offense. Somebody will now overpay Trent Brown & the same thing will happen. I hope it's not Buffalo. 6
BillsFan1988
I want him he's a bulldozer in the run gm solid at pass pro. But yes the flexibility at RT/LT is good. He's gonna cost about 13mil per but u have to look at the bright side he helps open up the draft for us to draft a game changer in the 1st either on D or O
billspro
I don’t know what to think of him. He dominated us in both games last year. NE free agents are always scary. Their system always shows a players strengths and masks their weaknesses.

I hope it's not Buffalo. I'm also very skeptical of anybody who comes from New England. Especially on offense. The league is FULL of players who left the Patriots machine, signed big deals elsewhere, and then never lived up to their contract. He's also pretty much the only Left Tackle with starting experience available in Free Agency, so his contract is going to be ridiculous. We definitely need a tackle, but I would rather spend money on JuWuan James or Darryl Williams on the right side. I'm more confident they will continue to play well in another environment. Of course (assuming we are not sold on Dion Dawkins at LT), that puts us into a really difficult position with the draft. We would really need to prioritize an OT like Jonah Williams or Jawaan Taylor at #9. And I'm not sure either will be available.

TheBeaneBandit
The NE system and QB make it so hard to judge as far as pass pro goes, but the dude is a superior run blocker for sure. I'm taking the gamble and throwing him some serious money. Worst case he moves back to RT and is even more overpaid lol

BillsSB2020
I think he would be a tremendous addition. Yes, skepticism of NE offensive players is fair game, but past is not always prologue. He's a mauler in the run game and would open up a ton of options as he's probably a better guard than tackle, but is more than serviceable at that spot. FWIW, he graded out well by PFF who judges each player individually. We need to get bigger and stronger up front and this guy is exactly that. He's also 25 years old. I'm a big yes. It is not just the NE angle but he was injury prone and ineffective with SF. Why did SF dump him - he was not good. NE turned it into a very good year but the Bills would be foolish to comp him long term based on last year. He is more likely to return to mean than continue on his trajectory. Ethan in Cleveland
Pass. Get your OT in the draft. Get C and G in free agency. Honestly I would just sign Mills again. He is serviceable, will be affordable, and the rookie can learn. Also gives the team the option to move Dawkins inside if they land a great OT in draft. Trent Brown is a mauler in the running game and a solid pass protector, for the right price I would definitely want him here. Jonah Williams is the player I'm hoping that we draft, this guy is already fundamentally perfect and once he gets into a NFL training program he will be a pro bowl LT. He's only 21 and can play every position on the O-Line. Jonah Williams LT and Trent Brown RT would keep Allens jersey clean and keep him healthy in a critical year for him to develop.
947
Brown had a solid year and is now set to get paid like a top-5 LT. He may not even be a LT in a non-Patriots offense, let alone a good one. He's a good player, but not a great one, this has classic overpay written all over it. The Derrick Dockery & Langston Walker signings are still too fresh in my mind... Build your O-line through the draft & by signing young "up & comers" fresh off their rookie deal.

PetermansRedemption
Like others have said, I am extremely wary of OL from the Patriots. Tom Brady makes everyone look good, OL and WR. Rarely does a player leave New England and remain as productive as he was in New England. Nate Solder is the freshest example. For the money he will want, Brown is an easy pass IMO.
