So much for those young, innovative offensive minds, haha. I think Frank Reich probably had more to do with Wentz' monster season in 2017 given how he's completely revitalized Andrew Luck's career right now.

Looking at the Vikings scores this season, it seems that when the offense is clicking and putting up points, the defense isn't clicking and they're giving up more points than their offense is scoring. And then if their defense is mostly getting the job done, the offense is non-existent.

Kirk Cousins is a bit overrated, IMO. He holds the ball too long, takes a lot of sacks and fumbles way too much. Over the past few seasons he's averaged 10 or 11 fumbles per season. And he can be really inconsistent. He'll catch the hot hand and complete something like 10 of his last 12 passes and then he'll follow that up by completing 1 of his last 9 or something.

Cousins is way overrated. To me he's always been a paper tiger. I've rarely ever seen him play well when it matters or in pivotal parts of games.

Wow!

This is actually a guy I would very much like to see brought in as our QB coach.

I think OC may be above his skill level right now, but he's the guy that worked with Nick Foles last year and helped him learn to stand in the pocket and make throws instead of his career habit of being flushed out under pressure (or phantom pressure).  Wentz also looked better with this guy coaching him.

I know "bring him in!" is practically a meme here, but this is one where I seriously do feel it could be an upgrade.

Agree on all counts.

Minny totally changed their offensive philosophy and kept most of the offensive players from last year. You don't go from how good they were last year and change the offense that dramatically, unless it's a rebuild or you are given time to work a new scheme and QB in. They forgot who they were. Not the OC's fault. Management.

Kirk Cousins is a QB who needs a stout OL and great WR to succeed.

He's got the great WR, but their OL has been hideously disrupted.  Among other changes, last year's LG has been on IR with a neck injury, they moved last year's good RT to RG (shades of Marrone and Pears), they are starting a rookie at RT, and most of their line has missed time with injuries.

But it's the Vikings D that has truly fallen off Big Time relative to last year, so it's not entirely clear to me why DeFilippo is the fall-guy

Zimmer basically told the media the other day that DeFilippo was refusing to do that Zimmer asked, so this is hardly a surprise.

Can you say more or provide linky's?  Not doubting you, would just like more gouge

“What do you think you need to do to get the offense back to rolling a little bit better?” Zimmer was asked by reporters.

Same thing I have been saying all year,” Zimmer said.

“Do you think you ran the ball enough?”

“No.”

Wow. He was supposed to be one of the the next hot, up-and-coming head coaching candidates.

Hey, Id take him as our QB coach in a heart beat!

Goes to show you for all those who claimed we're doomed for not have some offensive mind genius as the HC, it's a total crap shoot  when it comes down to who you select..

Definitely a scapegoat here, but I'd welcome him on our staff.

The reason I would bring him in is that he took Carson Wentz from a guy with athletic potential, to a guy that was an MVP candidate last year before he got hurt. A hire like that could be huge for Josh Allen.

I expect him to get another OC gig, but I would love this move.

Defilippo has been brutal as a play caller this season

Or cousins ignores him and free lances

Either way the vikes offense shouldnt be as bad as it is this season

It’s the OL. Can’t run the ball. Can’t protect the QB. But the offense isn’t really awful. They’ve lost some close games.
