Bills reportedly unlikely to trade McCoy and plan to keep him through 2019

I don’t think it happens. And honestly I think Shady is still here next year.

I would love to get more picks, but I think Beane would want at least the 2nd rounder. I’d take a 3rd myself. But I don’t think Philly will offer  the 2nd, and Buffalo will want more than just a 3rd. Clement will be their guy for this season and maybe they’ll pick up someone off the street as well for support.

According to old Ian, McCoy will probably stay in Buffalo till his deal runs out.

He claimed the Bills want a lot in return - possibly as much as Seattle was asking for Earl Thomas.

No compensation was discussed on the Bills end but he did expect the sides to talk again as the deadline approaches

It’s all about Allen at this point. I didn’t think they would trade him. They can’t afford to give away offensive weapons right now.

Or they’re playing the old “I really can’t trade him for a third round pick...he’s too valuable. But for a second rounder? Give us a call”

Maybe but I think they know his value is higher to them than it is to other teams. No one is trading a 2nd.

Agreed. If Eagles won’t do it then it won’t happen. Now if the Eagles lose another game or two before the trade deadline  due to bad offensive production??

His production-to-salary ratio is great, so as long as he's not going to pull a Le'veon Bell next year, they shouldn't trade him without extraordinary compensation.

170 rushing yards 0 TDs

64 recieving yards 0 TDs

in 5 games.

For 8.95M Cap. YES GREAT Production to Salary ratio.

I was looking at the $6M for next year. Yeah, I know the O has sucked this year, but I have hope that they'll add WR talent next year to open things up a little. If that happens, McCoy for $6M isn't a bad deal.

Now, if Philly makes us an offer we can't refuse, then I'm not opposed to trading him.

The Bills are not going to get extraordinary compensation for McCoy.  When you couple the NFL's declining value it puts on RB's with Shady's declining output and age it makes no sense for a team to overpay.

I agree, and I'm fine with keeping him.

If we get offered anything better than a 3rd round pick we should take the deal and run like the wind.

Shady hasnt been good. He’s making too much. I’d rather have Ivory and Murphy at RB than Shady. They run with more purpose. Always running forward. Shady is always bouncing around looking for the Homerun and it costs him those 2-4 yards that Ivory gets by simply running north and south.

Oh yeah, and there was already a Shady thread. Why isn’t this in there?  [mod note: good idea.  Is now]

You wouldn't want Ivory and Murphy... you just think you do but you dont want less talent on offense.

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. If they get they get good value they should ABSOLUTELY move McCoy

Translation: No one was offering more than a fifth rounder for him.

The posters who continue to undervalue what Shady means to this team amaze me.  His pedestrian numbers so far this season don't speak to his [still] elite talent -- you don't give that away unless somebody is offering stupid value.

Agreed.  When you consider Murphy and Ivory are making 3.1 mil combined compared to McCoy at 8.9 mil the contrast is stark.

Lol stop thinking about money it means nothing. This 8s the dumbest way to look at it. There is a reason the other RBs are making less money... they aren't as good.

No. I would want Ivory and Murphy. McCoy hasn’t been that good on over 2 years. I’d take a 3rd rounder in a heartbeat. Run away and never look back.

Not sure what the infatuation is with everyone about aging vets with big names but don’t produce anywhere near their glory days but people keep holding on for something that will never be back.

I bet bet you keep your high school love letters locked away too. You know, for sentemental value.

I don't see it. Shady has been very vocal about his support for Buffalo and he's bought in. I'm glad they want him around.  This also shows the Bills are not in tank mode. The only question baffling me is the faith in our current WR's. They've made moves on the OL, but how they keep coming up empty at WR is troubling.

My comment was based more on McCoy’s value to other teams, which ain’t much. But yeah, I don’t think he’s a huge difference maker for the Bills.  How many ypg are they averaging with him in the lineup?
