Quick hitters , little time between plays, and off balance play calling . Think of New England offense . The ball will be out before the rush gets there .. And you can learn on the practice field and in the QB room. Josh needs some of that. He's especially got to improve his pre-snap reads. That requires more time studying film. That is the other huge downside. I am not going to predict it will happen because I want the Bills to win so much. But it's possible that Nate will get killed because of his arm and not being able to handle the rush. And have to be benched again very early. Crucify me if I'm wrong. I'm not like some on this board who just run away when they're wrong. But Allen starting has been pretty close to inevitable since we traded up to get him and didn't try to get a proven, viable alternative in front of him. Really? You think Allen is going to start? No way. That’s surprising! ? We all know Allen is going to start at some point. It’s just a matter of when that point is. It may not be opening day despite what you believe. And it wasn't. And I genuinely hope Peterman is the next Tom Brady rather than the terrible starting QB I think he is. After that 3rd preseason game I said I wanted Peterman rather than Allen to start week 1 specifically because of how horrible our OL has looked. He’s already shown an ability to learn outside of game time reps after all. Then when he gets the call to start he’s in the best position to succeed. OVER THE MIDDLE" Peterman is best throwing picks to the outside but fear not, he can throw them over the middle, too. In fact, slant patterns are where he is most inaccurate. Yes, that was tough to take, but let's not forget that Groy had an outstanding stretch of play subbing for Woods a couple of years ago. He did not suddenly forget how to play. I’d say it can be measured in games, not picks. There is no Tyrod with a decent body of work to turn to. If things go off the rails for Peterman, he still gets the first 4 games. Patrick Duffy Posted September 3, 2018 Share Posted September 3, 2018 Well, I wish them both good luck and hopefully they will produce. I liked Groy at C a LOT better than Redmond. Hope the Oline can protect better than they have shown thus far throughout preseason. They seem pretty solid up front run blocking but have GOT to do better pass protecting. Still think Allen will get his shot at some point during the season, unless Peterman can stay healthy and just light it up. Hope he can, never hurts to have 2 good QB's so we shall see. Think it will be a tough go at it in Baltimore no matter who starts, but in any event I'm looking forward to the start of the new season. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I read that the Ravens are coaching their DBs this week to not jump the out patterns TOO early, you might run past it before it gets there. He doesn’t have them down though. You don’t re-write muscle memory gained through a life time of doing it wrong in one offseason. When the bullets fly for real and he gets pressured he reverts right back to his crappy footwork. Give him time to overwrite his poor footwork and he could be something special. Throw him out there with a **** OL and he’ll be running for his life much like he was in college and will revert right back to what he’s always done. There is some merit to that. But he never really had bad mechanics. There are a lot of guys that have them and they try to fix them. There are another set of guys whose good mechanics break down too often, because of the rush and other factors, which is a totally different animal. All throughout the spring training program, training camp and the preseason fourth-year Bill, Ryan Groy, has rotated with Bodine as the starter. Today, Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced that Groy would begin the season as the number one center against Baltimore on Sunday. “Ryan Groy will start,” said McDermott. “Russell [Bodine] has had a good preseason as well, so we feel good about both of those young men.” Nothing but respect for McCarron Prior to the final roster being released, the Bills made some headlines when they traded AJ McCarron to the Oakland Raiders. McCarron was signed to a two-year deal on March 15th of this year and he began his journey with the Bills competing with the likes of Nathan Peterman and Josh Allen. Throughout training camp, McCarron took a fair amount of the team’s first team reps in practices, and he was certainly in the mix for the starting job. Shady said it a couple months ago, everyone can see Allen's talent and it's only a matter of time before he gets the start. Taking Tyrod out halfway through the season with a winning record is much harder to come back from than sitting the rookie for the first few games.
