Playoffs? Playoffs?? The Playoff Chances Thread

It’s very realistic that titans lose to jags week 17 and the chargers lose to raiders. It could very easily not happen but it’s not unrealistic to see it going that way and us sneaking in.

Even the Colts competed with the Ravens which no one thought was possible. Gotta have hope something will fall our way.

Is that like a Alg-o-rhythm?

Lotta scenarios there - like 130+(ish) where we make the playoffs...

Also, fwiw, fivethirtyeight's NFL Predictions:  https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2017-nfl-predictions/?ex_cid=rrpromo

Keeping it as is, but making the Pats game a loss and the Mia game a win the Bills have a 53% chance to make the playoffs.  Add a Baltimore loss to Cinci and we're in.  Not that anything will go to plan (ever)...

Still feel like we’re a coin flip at this point. A lot of plausible combos get us in. Tomorrow really doesn’t have that much meaning, assuming we lose

Yeah assuming we lose it doesn't, but if we win, it should almost certainly be win and we are in Week 17.

That opposed to losing tomorrow and come week 17 going "if the Jaguars beat the Titans, the Chargers lose to Raiders, and the Ravens lose to Bengals" we are in!

On another note, if we are so certain the Titans are going to lose, I think we can root for the Chiefs to lose out against the Dolphins and Broncos and still get in. Unlikely, but still another chance.

Titans game tomorrow has absolutely nothing to do with our playoff chances. Only relevant game tomorrow is the Chargers at Jets. Chargers need to lose either tomorrow or next week. Jets at home could give them a good game. Then Raiders the following week is a good rivalry game. So I would expect them to lose 1 of those 2. Hopefully it's tomorrow so we have a better idea of what we need in week 17.

At that point all we will need is 1 win (Dolphins our best chance obviously) and either Ravens or Titans to lose in week 17. Titans will be the underdogs vs Jags and Ravens vs Cinci is a toss up, flip a coin type game imo.

So I like our chances. There is a very realistic path to the playoffs. We just need to do our part and have a little luck along the way

So as long as chargers lose this week, and ravens or Titians lose next week we’re in. Does it have to be next week? Or is because of who they are playing in week 17 that they have to lose against?

im kinda iffy about the Titian’s game in week 17. Hopefully the jags don’t sit starters seeing they have already clinched playoffs. Is there anything they might be fighting for?

Titans have to beat the Jags to get in. They could win or lose this week and assuming we lose to NE it won't matter for them as long as they win next week. If they beat them then we are fighting it out with Ravens or Chargers for the last spot. If Ravens beat Cinci they are in.

So basically if Ravens or Titans lose next week that opens the door for either us or Chargers. So we want Chargers to lose today so then it's just us who can sneak in!

You are right, Jags won't have anything to play for, but they would probably want to win to keep a division rival out. Having played them twice and destroying them the first time, the Titans  have the most knowledge about how to beat them. Also, Marrone doesn't seem like the type of coach that would rest players. Jags should be favored in that one so that is probably our best chance to sneak in

Check the playoff scenario generator link in the first post if you don't believe me

Titans beat the Jags and they are in and Ravens beat Cinci they are in.  We aren't winning today so if you are factoring that in then you will have a sad christmas

The Titans game today matters because if they lose, then lose again next week we don't beat the Chargers in a 9-7 tiebreak. If the the Chargers win their last two, which they probably will, and we lose today, which we probably will, we need the Titans to finish 9-7 with a win today and a loss next week.

Simply put, you want the Titans and Chargers to have the same result today. Either they both win. Or they both lose.

Jags will still be playing for the #2 seed.

This is simply wrong. Titans win today helps the Bills a lot as long as the Bills lose. If that happens all that needs to happen in the last week is the Jags and Bills win and the Bills are in no matter what.

When the Bills beat the Pats it will....

Lets start thinking the Bills will end 10-6, then the playoff in/out gets easy....

This where you messed up:

“If the Bills lose one game (to Pats)

Jaguars need to win today against the Rams AND lose to Jacksonville next week. Bills are in.”

You're welcome

Only problem with with this is the jags will have nothing to play for next week and it's at Tennessee.  Here's hoping!

If the Steelers or Pats drop a game, aren't the Jags still in the running for the playoff bye week in week 17?

That something has already fallen our way with our win over Miami and the loss by Chargers last week and the Titans losing their last two.   It is now in  our hands to take control of this and control our destiny.  It all starts today.  One of the things people forget is that  we have also won 3 of the last 4 with one loss to the Patriots.  So may be tehy have the momentum to make it 5 out of the last six.

Jags have the tie breaker verse Pittsburgh and New England they do have something to play for if they win

It's almost impossible to know if we want the Titans and/or Chargers to win today.  So much depends on who else wins and loses.  Just win both Bills!!!  Much better odds.

no it's not.

you want the chargers to lose. a chargers loss puts them at 8 losses and out of the running.
