Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
DC Greg replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’d have been a fan of just a more traditional representation of the animal. Either just some bison standing in bronze or steel, or some kind of art of them charging. These mechabison with angry eyes look cartoonish to me. I think the stripe looks silly, especially on the little calf. To each their own, but looks tacky and ugly to me. -

Robobison! Those things are hideous 😂 -
Yeah I don’t believe this at all. Most NFL teams have kooks as owners. Ours isn’t more kooky than others. I think Beane is respected around the league generally, and I think they did a good job today putting the “power play” narrative to bed. I don’t think coaches are going to watch a presser like this and be scared off… I think they would see an opportunity. They know the owner just gave the previous guy NINE years, despite repeated playoff disappointment and questionable coaching. It’s not like Terry has a rep for firing coaches or being overly meddling like other owners. He’s involved, but he lets the GM and coach run the show. No coaches are balking at a chance to coach a contender with a franchise QB because of this press conference. It’s just going to come down to $ and contract terms.

I did. I initially thought both McD and Beane should have been fired, but my opinion started to soften on Beane in recent days and after the presser, I’m very much glad Beane is still there. I think it would have been a disaster for Terry to rebuild the whole thing on his own. I think this is the right move after all.

I think this press conference made me feel a bit better about things. First of all, it was time for McD to go. We don’t need to relitigate all of the playoff failures, but a lot of that was on him and his defense. And Terry is right about how crushed everyone was after the Denver game. There needed to be a change after that. There’s too much pressure on these guys, and they need a coach who will have them playing with loose with confidence again. In my opinion, McD had too much nervousness about him too… I think he really wanted to deliver, but that pressure affected the way he coached. And the presser affirms for me that I’m glad Terry kept Beane, because I do not trust Terry on his own to get anything right with hiring both a new GM and coach. That’s too much, and we’ve all seen the Sabres over the past decade. My only concern is if Allen and company are too upset and check out in some way, but I tend to think what we’ve seen so far is just an immediate emotional response. It’s a very sad thing and we’re all sad to see a coach go who delivered a lot of success, but I think they’ll get past it and be ready to compete again hopefully with the right new leader in place.

I’ve thought a lot about this. I want Daboll to get the shot. I think it would be a great unifier for the team, and I think he did really well at the start of his tenure in NY. Either way, they better be consulting Allen in this hiring process and make sure they’re getting a guy he’s fully onboard with.

Poll (Yes or No) - Are you excited now?
DC Greg replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I voted yes. There’s a lot of uncertainty about if they will get the right coach in place and if giving Beane this much power will be a good thing, but I was also pretty convinced they would always find a way to fail with Clappy. Now I feel like they have a new chance to get it right, so there’s that. -
I’m sure one of those crap teams will love to have him. It would be a good hire for them.

Baltimore is not hiring a proven playoff loser. He’ll be a good hire for a crap team who hope to get a turnaround like he had in Buffalo. No contender would want him. We’re the only fools who would have stuck with him so long after what he showed over and over again in the playoffs.

I’ve called for his firing for several years now. He was still a good coach and a good representative for Buffalo. Even with all his playoff F ups, we still had a great run with him at the helm. Thankful.
